My 1st time to Aria was great. Mauro kicked ass (would u expect anything less?). Good to meet some Montreal TA's- you were very hospitable. The TA community rocks- give yourself a hug! In dire need of sleep. Will post more later. Not looking forward to work tomorrow... |

WoW!! what a great night! it was my first time visiting and partying in Montreal, and what a blast! and Mauro played a blistering set that was just off the hook!! it was much harder than the sets he played in toronto and nyc, and i really really enjoyed it. 13 hours of Mauro live in 8 days, and there wasn't one moment when i ever debated whether or not i liked it. he is soo talented, and is a master at controlling the crowd, so much energy and smiles! and aria was pretty cool...the lights (even lights in the floor), sound, and videos on the screen were amazing. i especially like the clip of george bush dancing...haha. then i remembered i was in canada, which made it even better
but it was VERY hot in there. no biggie, just drained my energy a little faster.
it was nice meeting some montreal TAs. i'm sorry if i didn't hear all of your names, but the sound system was amazing, and it was kinda hard to hear much over it. anytime you want to come to nyc for a party let me know, and the ny TAs will show you a good time
otherwise, i'll see all of you again december 26: PvD time!!
to the TO TAs: tatgirl, durafei, orangemega, theneonalien, and tony
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
i don't know how i can ever repay all of you for hanging with me yesterday and making a rather horrid experience in to a really good time. i hope that you have all recovered well from our rather large adventure. i am embarrassed to post what i did yesterday...me at my finest!
i'll let nathalie have the honors...
once again, a great party with a great dj, and AMAZING company! can't wait to do it again!!

WOW! Awesome night. Im at school now but my brain is so fried and i gotta read and finish a chapter and all exercises in math
. Shout out to to Natalie Tatgirl (good organizational skills - without u this thing would have never got off the ground). Durafei - this guy rocks (unbelievable energy the whole friggin night). RubyRiva - Good looking and always a plesure to be around (But I must question her bathroom smarts - more to come on that)) OrangeMega - Diggler u almost didnt come but i knew u would make it in the car leaving from Toronto at 8:30 And my buddy Tony - a tranceaddict in the making. We totally rocked Montreal!. Dont ever forget the huddle on the dancefloor when i told everyone "that u are all in my goodbook"! I need some painkiller injections in the back of my legs but ill survive the day.
Mauro played another awesome set. Similar to that in Toronto. Really liked Aria (nice setup) . He signed all my cd sleeves and i gotta picture.
MANY memories on the trek to Montreal. And coincedences.
For those who are wondering I was the guy with the spining red FREAK glowing thingy, wearing the white Italian soccer jersey with a hat. Or maybe u might remember me fanning everyone with Nalalie's fan or the PICOTTO license plate
.
I dont wanna get into a car for a week.
Cool to meet other TA's from Montreal. I'm dying to see a copy of that video fastmp3!
Until next tme!
TheNeonAlien
well i'm glad you guys made it safely to your houses but i'm quite curious about what happened , i hope it's nothing bad
and nice to meet you too TheNeonAlien , the guy filming was ahlamalek (deustch jersey) and i'm the big guy who was wearing a blue pant and t-shirt
Hahaha, I heard what happened to RubyRiva, and her bathroom ordeal.. I'm glad it was corrected after 3 hours, boy, you guys must have been dead after... but, I'm glad i heard that you all stuck with her... RubyRiva, it was great to meet you, and don't worry, it can happen to all that get only minimal sleep (couple hours) in 3 days or so...
i hope that all the TA who came to Picotto are realising that this men is the best m*&%?!"&%$!?%$ DJ in the world! i was a little bit tired before mauro but there was nothing that could stop me go to aria....
there was so much people and i liked but i was not first in the line up and i hate it! the line up started around 12H30!
mateo was very great apart few mixes he missed....
i hope every motherfucking ta went in the urban room cause if u didnt well SHAME ON U! there was the greatest drum and bass dj in the world and i cant imagine some of u didnt go up for at least 2 or 3 songs even if u dont like d'n B cause : 1st- there was way more chicks in that room than there will ever possibly be in the main room(except the mauro chicks that was so hot and jay's passion the blonde girl that seems to be very nice btw) 2nd-the ambience is very nice with the mc pumping the crowd 3rd-i dont think dieselboy is gonna come by next week so u may have just missed the only opportunity u had to see him live in MONTREAL!!!!
about mauro, i dont know why people could have hated his performance at swirl cause it was quite the same without aria's energy and all that stuff. imo hes the greatest performer: mixing very well, few errors, the track selection was just mauro's style(nothing u know but it wont stop u from dancing since its so intense) and his presence in the booth is incomparable(even armin cant beat this imo). like techno freak said hes making u wait so long in the break parts that u think ure legs will broke apart and ure arms will fall on the ground!
he played some stuff that was not far from electro but way harder!
i only recognized those who detective u mentionned + maybe
los hijos del sol and like this like that 3am mix but not very sure(i think zing could help on the tracklisting cause he didnt stop looking on mauro's vinyl to identify em)
i asked him to play hong kong about 2 hours after he started and i tought he wouldnt play any of his own tracks but at the second i heard bangkok special snare pattern i started dancing like hell! the he finished with hong kong and i think i wont ever forget this since i asked him at swirl and he didnt played it so it was the first time i heard it live: the intro that kicks ass and then the MEGA double bass line bo-boom at each measure OMFG it rocked the place!!!!!!
imo the set shouldnt have been that long even if his my favorite dj and that i can stop listening to him cause only after 2 hours people started to take it easy cause 1 hour of mauro isnt like 1 hour of armin!!!! after 4H15!!!! he stopped, i was DEAD since i gave everything for both ferry and mauro, i thought id barf on the floor, my stomach hurt me for the rest of the day....... thx a LOT biggy for those amzing events and also cause i think u asked him to play longer and i was so happy for that and no one will ever forget his performance there cause they saw who rules the place!!(have u noticed he didnt seem a bit tired after he played, still dancing in the booth, no hurry just pleasure! i think the girl had a solid session with im after!)
finally, amazing weekend, ferry and mauro are so great( i wanted mauro to play more of his beats like were back or trasponder, i didnt even play any version of pulsar!) but i wont do it again for at least 6 months! Im a real trance addict listening to it 24/7 and i didnt want to hear anything after mauro, i had my complete dose!!!!
nice to meet all of u 2 times in a weekend, why master wasnt there?
thx every one for being the best people to hang with during those magikal things see u in december or maybe at oliver lieb who knows....
MAURO IS THE BEST!!!!

haha nice review le castrateur , now that's what i call "the addiction"
here's some info on the day after mauro events:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...?threadid=69649
my friend that i carpool with got such a kick out of it, he signed up on ta just to post this...
Well, I finally got 8 hours of sleep last night, and feel it's time to write a decent review of this event...
Having seen Mauro Picotto on Oct. 4th at System Sounbar in TO(which was one of top 3 parties that I've ever been to), I didn't think his set at Aria could be any better. Boy, was I wrong. His set absolutely kicked ass! I don't think the party itself was better(party at System was just tooooo good), but I still had a freaking AWESOME time !
We(Tatgirl, OrangeMega, TheNeonAlien, Tony and myself) got to to Aria around 1:30. Once we got the the line-up, we immediately saw Rubyriva(she came over from Syracuse for this), who got to the line like 1-2 minutes before us(this one of the first amazing coincidences of this trip). Thanks to Tatgirl(thank you so much !!), who ordered tickets online for this, we got in without waiting in line at all(apparently if you order tickets online, you get line bypass).
The first impression of Aria that I got was NOT a good one.. In fact, I thought that we are in some kind of a jail(no offence to Biggy, but the walkway to coatcheck from main entrance is just way too scary).
We then had to wait like 15 mins till we put our coats in a coatcheck.(Biggy, why not hire another coat-check person? This should cut wait-in-line time by like 25%, cause bouncers don't let people in until coatcheck area has more room)
Now we were all set to party.... We got to the main room, where Mateo Murphy(at least I think it was him) was playing at the time. I really liked his style, especially last half hour prior to Picotto. Lighting and sounds were really amazing; however I did miss lazers(another hint to Biggy). We chilled outside the DJ booth till about 4(didn't see any MTL TAs at that point though), and then went to the dancefloor awaiting Picotto.
Finally Mauro embraces the decks ! He started off with the same track as in TO. As soon as the beat comes in, the whole dance floor goes nuts! It was great! In general he played a much harder set than in TO; however there weren't as many highlights. His TO set was a bit mellower, but as soon as that hard track started, it was craziness !
MTL was all hard.
Now, I have found out on Oct. 4, but that night just confirmed it -
partying with Caryn, Nathalie, Dom, Vince and Tony(Rubyriva, Tatgirl, OrangeMega, TheNeonAlien, *TonyInsertYourNickNameHere* respectively) is the best experience ever ! If you ever hear that these 5 are in town, make sure you are there, as partying with them is just as fun(if not more), as enjoing the best music out there ! Thanks guys for being so awesome !
Montreal TA's have been great as well ! Fastmp3 found us in the middle of Mauro's set and took us behind the DJ booth where all other TAs were hanging out(why are you guys always there, and not on the dancefloor ? ) There we meet TechnoFreak, Ahlamalek, Le Castrateur and some others. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to MTL and partying it up again with you guys(or you can come to TO and check out our scene) !
We finally left the club at 8:30, after Mauro finished his set and didn't stay outside the booth for even 2 minutes, what's up with that?
Overall:
Music - 10/10 (Do I need to explain ? )
Club Aria - 6/10 (looks too *underground* - just because trance/techno are not mainstream, doesn't mean the place should seem so damn dangerous, coatcheck/lineup too slow, no lazers. As I already mentioned before though; sound and lights are AWESOME! Good job! DJ Booth is great too - gotta love being able to see the DJ up close and personal
)
=================================================================
Our trip back was FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN indeed. All due to Rubyriva's UNPRECEDENTED bathroom incident. But I'll let someone else tell the story first, as I feel I have already written too much.

Comments:
I think it's well known to everybody, but I'll state it once again. MTL parties have way more girls than TO parties, but at the same time MTL parties have way more topless guys than TO parties. Of course it's fun when good looking girls are smiling and dancing next to you, but it's not much fun when some sweaty topless guy *accidentally* bumps into you or whatever. So I would have to say that these two factors completely cancel each other out
Another thing I noticed is that WAY more people are seriously fucked up on drugs in MTL. Apparently 2-3 pills a night is a norm there. Not that I mind - nothing wrong with having a bunch of happy people partying, though myself I'd never do so much ever.

now that's a heck of a story
to the TO people I'm really sorry I didnt really party with you guys, I was still drunk and could hardly manage to film the event hehehe... plus I was pissed off at the Guest list guy for not letting my friends in (they went home but I called them back just in time!
)
To Durafei, we were still recovering from Corsten's set 2 days before... this is why most of us stayed behind the booth!
I think I understand what you mean about Aria, its not "glam" enough... hehe Aria is all about the music, the sound system and the lights... and off course its crowd! There's soooo many good looking clubs in montreal, the only thing is their music is either hiphop or some other shit... come pass a weekend here and we'll go around visiting some of them :P
multicolored lasers like Viva would be cool to have in Aria IMO. The trick is not to over use them.
Mauro Picotto @ Aria was THE BEST party I have ever been to in my entire life!! I think Durafei's review was 100% accurate! Well said Ilyia.
One of the main resons why my night was incredibly AMAZING was because of the people I went with. Durafei, RubyRiva, TheNeonAlien, tatgirl and Tony. You guys all kick ass!! My night wouldn't of been the same without you. I have only known Durafei for a little but I must say, he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met! A really good guy! There was a time at ARIA that I was completly spaced out and didn't know what was going on, out of no where come's Durafei with a bottle of water for me!!! I was totaly speachless.
That was really nice of him. Thank you very much Durafei, you are a cool guy to party with! Rubyriva and tatgirl are the nicest girls I have ever met!! Really fun to party with! Thank you Caryn for giving me somthing to laugh at this weekend (Bathroom Incident)lol Waiting for you at the gastation wasn't a problem at all, we ended up having a BLAST! As for TheNeonAlien and Tony.............THANK YOU SO MUCH! These guys are just amazing, really really good guys. If it wasnt for Vince and Tony I would have missed Mauro @ Aria, they made my night much more memorable!
I give Mauro Picotto a 10/10! It was just CRAZY.
As for the TA's that were there...I was the tall skinny guy wearing a white long sleeve shirt, I also had a brace on my right arm (DAM SCOOTERS) I was in the middle of the club by the DJ booth danicing ALL night.
Ilyia, Tony, Vince, Caryn and Natalie are GREAT TO PARTY with!!
Thank you all for the good memories!!
Dom

how come u fast and zing arent bringing some titles to the tracklist?
i know zing kept looking at his vinyls so come on bring em on!!! it was so nice to hear some great tracks that didnt know, though i enjoy very much the fact that i can id some tunes!(just like at marco v
)
people were told clearly that there was no hiphop tonight...
sometimes it just happens that there's lots of chicks at once, like for example at Misstress Barbara on June 8th.
i think the drum and bass night helped a bit cause all the chicks were dressed in dnb style...

mauro played the two matt listed above (btw, i LOVE off the ceiling
, that was the last track of the night at arc in nyc on 10/5, he played it right before 7am at aria, so i thought he was going to end it with that again)
others he played:
Josh Wink- Freak (amazing, esp with the naked guy jumping around on the pogo stick on the screens
)
Johannes Heil - paranoid dancer(dj hell rmx)
Koenig Cylinders: 99.99(?rmx)
i absolutely STINK at id'ing tracks so maybe someone else can help
especially with the last 2 tracks of the night! i am working on it too...
if someone can ID the track before the last one (honk kong) i'm gonna be the happiest man on earth
