sorry guys!! its electro
with a mega hit like sunglasses at night for example or felix da housecat making electro mainstream, I think that genre just landed from nowhere. so it must be the genre of the year.
there's a difference between genre of the year FOR YOU and genre of the year generally ...
For me : techno
Generally : prog. in all its aspects , breakz included cuz i can't dissociate them
Sorry to go off topic, but which songs would be your typical progressive tracks? Would it be like Iio and Kosheen? Any others?

1. Progressive House (And no, I don't mean big names like Sasha and shit. I mean real underground artists and DJ's
)
2. Dark / Deep House
2. Breaks
4. Ambient
prog-house has hurdled itself into my top spot this year, with trance second and breaks hot on its heels.
James Zabiela & Lavelle play breaks but there are just the minors to the breaks world....Meat Katie, Adam Freeland, Koma & Bones, B.L.I.M, Elite Force, Starecase, new comers Nubreed, Cass, Tayo, Tom Middleton (not only breaks), Way Out West, the legend Rennie Pilgrem and many many others run the scene.
is it a year for breaks? it definitely has been recognized by a larger scale by most people. still it pretty much remains in the shadows of trance, progressive or house. usually breaks are played for those who know, thats the way i see it.
I personally reckon hard trance is the flavour of the year...
