Feel bad for the crowd in that Visionquest video.
Watching Woody Van Eyden air Drum and Spin with his face for some strange reason reminds me of the octopus drummer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqwkbio3Va4

What made that Troxler vid' so much funnier was it surfaced around the same time he was voted RA's #1.
Fortunately for them, there's always a large enough number of audience members who'll just lap it all up anyway, and report back that they 'totally killed it last night!'
Which I suppose is one way to put it.

Sasha was so drunk three years ago when I saw him at Output that he fell down and also had to take a 30 minute break. He still was spinning solid though.

Google maps is hard to link it seems

Spinning while on MDMA was much more common in the old days. I remember seeing sasha rolling out of his mind on more than one occasion. Way less common now days. First, if you f up people will have video of it posted on youtube soon. Second, its easier to spin vinyl if you are rolling. trying to find tracks digitally is a killer on the eyes.
Also, the two guys who could pull off a great set while smashed are vath and sasha. in fact, im convinced that both guys sets improve with drug use.
On those rare occasions when sasha was rolling hard you knew he was gonna smash that set. There is a famous southern california story about one particular time in which sasha got too mashed at an la gig, his set was great, but he was literally in no condition to be left alone after it. The promoters had to babysit him for the next 6 hours afterwards until all the lsd wore off. Apparently they went bowling.
Lots of pics ive seen of Sasha when he was mixing, he always looked a bit stoned to me...always wondered was that one of the reasons his mixing was one of the best of anyone around??
I can guarantee he was rolling at that Alexandria Palace new years essential mix where he played like 130+ bpm for 2 hours.
Doesn't legend say that he passed out in a ditch after his Ibiza set that turned into GU:013?
In the book "Superstar DJs Here We Go" by Dom Philips there's some extensive interviews with Sasha. He wouldn't talk about drugs but he said he would drink heavily and get what he called "Post Traumatic Set Disorder" where the booze would hit him as soon as he came off the decks. Apparently at Homelands one year he staggered off and fell asleep in a field, and woke up in the morning surrounded by a ring of ravers sat rolling spliffs, debating whether he was actually Sasha.
There are some recorded sets of his from the mid-90s where the mixing is absolutely terrible. I don't buy it that his mixing improved on E.
