I fucking love how illogical this shit is.
'They're all in a cartel together to keep down cancer research! All they care about is profit! None of them are human at all!'
'But also, despite their love of money, genius, and indecency, they totally couldn't figure out a way to make FUCK TONS of money off of their invention that would be loved by all of mankind.'
Weapons-grade twattery is, I believe, the correct term for such a thought process.
Interesting. I have a strong belief that Iboga does, indeed, cure various mental and physical disorders (which I believe I've mentioned in the Iboga thread), and it also happens to be far cheaper than perhaps virtually all other "treatment" methods that don't actually cure. The country of Gabon and other places could've been charging millions for curing various malaise, but they don't. Go figure, eh?
You've mentioned it in about every damn thread in this forum.
I'm reposting it in reply to your post here.

Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN it's perfectly fine you believe this, especially since you actually have experience with it. that's different from claiming the reason it's not an accepted treatment generally is due to "big pharma" keeping the little guy down.
quote:
well if they conducted clinical trials and published studies proving its efficacy then someone obviously could make some decent dollars out of it. what's your point?
quote:
Originally posted by AlphaStarred I maintain my opinion on the matter, which I've already elaborated on.
quote:
Originally posted by AlphaStarred Absolutely. My point and implication was that I've never yet seen pharma companies/hospitals charging hundreds of thousands/millions of dollars for an actual "cure."

Originally posted by AlphaStarred I'm not sure about the veracity of this, but my friend/provider in Spain told me Holland will be conducting the first human clinical trials with Iboga this or next year, so we'll see what happens.
I'm sure the lack of serious study into Iboga is all because big pharama is controlled by psychopathic capitalists, and not because of deaths experienced by users:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16698188
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23123541
B-b-b-but what happens when ibogaine is recognized as the instant-panacea for mental illness that I'm sure it is and is then co-opted by big pharma and turned into a pill regimen similar to the medications available now for mental illness??
Or wait, does it work specifically in such a way that you just have to take it once and BAM, cured, you'll never suffer anxiety or depression ever again?
If so hit me up. I'm interested in this sorcery.
Five more fucking minutes on the internet found this article: http://www.newscastmedia.com/4investors_africa.pdf see pages 11 and 12 for the god damned patents that have been filed for iboga treatments.
Here's one: http://appft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...=DN/20050288375
Filed by Myriad Genetics, a pharama company with a market cap of over $2 billion.
Big Pharam is DEFINITELY trying to keep down Iboga. No way they're going slowly to try to be safe AND make money off this.
Fucking conspiracy theories.
No.... no that can't be true.

you even state below that there could be clinical trials coming, which clearly undermines your point.

Originally posted by Lews I know you're being facetious, but, for the idiots who aren't, if this shit was serious (and proven, and ready) then they would make it and sell it for somewhere between $100,000 and $1,000,000 a pop, and PEOPLE WOULD BUY IT. Insurance companies would figure out a way to make it profitable for everyone involved. The government would get involved in subsiding it, probably, since a cure to mental illness would be a fantastic productivity booster. God damned conspiracy bullshit.

Originally posted by AlphaStarred Clinical trials in Holland, where it's already legal.

Originally posted by AlphaStarred That's not hundreds of thousands/millions of dollars.

The launch of Sovaldi, the $1,000-a-day pill for hepatitis C, is shaping up as the most successful ever. The Food and Drug Administration approved the pill in December. And then Gilead Sciences was off to the races. The company said it sold $2.27 billion worth of Sovaldi in the quarter that ended March 31. $2.27 billion! |
quote:
Originally posted by AlphaStarred That's not what I said, however.

Originally posted by AlphaStarred Yes, and Iboga should also be legalized. But that would put big pharma companies, rehab centers, therapists and psychiatrists out of business, so it ain't gonna happen.

Shit I really need to go re-watch Spaced one of these days.

Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN ? what opinion- that big pharma commercialise anything they can get their hands on? really?

Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN big pharma certainly don't oppose the legalisation of iboga because such legalisation opens avenues for further research and commercialisation of possible medicinal benefits (ie profits)
quote:
? Holland are out of the reach of big pharma? |

can you do maths? the cure costs up to $100k per person |
