hey steve... the guy who suggested it's a shared T3 line is probably right... i think your ISP basically has a whole bunch of T3 lines connecting it to the rest of the 'net... but you've got a 10mbps LAN connection to your ISP... which means you've effectively got your own 10mbps connection (subject to internet traffic).

i've got the same set up over here my computer's connected over a LAN to my ISP, which gives a bitchin' fast connection to the internet... max d/l rate is about 1000+ kb/s. speed ROCKS.

The worst is that my neighbor has adsl, but when i called the isp they said i couldn't get it, i was just on the line where you could get it and not!!!!

well i betta enjoy it while it lasts coz once i move out of university residence in 2 years time I mite not find a T3 line as cheap (40 a year?! hehe)..

so let's enjoy it while we can

Got cable as well - Rogers@HOME which is pretty good when it WORKS!!! Very unstable, at least for me.

I wish I could find something better, something with a faster upstream/upload. For now, this is the only broadband solution.

yeah i gotz the same cause i live in TO. but mann...when i actually was with shaw, it was reallll sweet! the bastards moved over to the west coast now.... now we're stuck with rogers.

my friend actually told me about some separate (private?) cable internet company that was realll good...that reminded me...i should ask him about it...

Yeah please ask, I need to try other companies. I tried Sympatico High Speed (ADSL) and it was much slower then rogers@home.

Rogers has about 3000kbps/384kbps = 375/48 kb/sec speeds. The download is fine, but the upload is not enough, espcecially for running all sorts of ftp/http servers

works with a small adapter has got an average dl rate of 300k/sec and costs bout 20USD a month!!!
