if this was coming from anyone but you i'd take it more seriously, you've said some of the meanest shit I've ever heard like direct personal attacks towards so many people. People I actually like MSZ Raphie ect. I really don't know wtf is going on here but if it's that big of a deal I'll stop. If I'm not funny that's fine they can't all be winners but at least I try. I most likely deserved it, I've been a real asshat in the past at times. We can all work on trying to be better people, not that it probably matters.

except I never called anyone a fag. Have you even been paying attention or are you just chiming in on the drama too? I would never do that and being called homophobic when you're fucking not is way more offensive btw some of my best friends have been gay and they'd throw that word around way more than I ever would. Dave, I know where you're coming from but I think Meriter was trying to make the point that the political correctness on here is sometimes very selective.

He didn't actually say the word fag, nor condone it, just that there's a discrepancy between what is OK and not OK on here.

I like the fact that TA isn't moderated as heavily as other places, but at the same time there isn't really any place for straight up racsim, homophobia, anti-semitism or sexism.

There is context though and I'm big believer in freedom as it related to speech, especially humor, and people need not to be so fucking uptight and PC about shit.

We're posting nosense on a trance forum, remember. Let's not take all of ourselves too seriously and let's also look at who posts what.

With that said, Juan, you really need to stop using offensive words, to simply be offensive. You've been told a ton of times before and it's not like you don't have you're own quite staggering personal issues so you may want to think twice before criticizing others for their lifestyle or choices.

EDIT: Of course, just as I'd finished writing this, I read the other thread in which Meriter uses and talks about the word Fag, as not being offensive, at least in his vocabulary. It is to anyone gay so maybe he deserved a bit of a tongue lashing by Dave, but I hope he comes back.

Yeah i actually feel sorry for Deegee so i'll try my best not use that word if it hurts him in some way.

Read all of my posts in context. My point wasn't too give him a tongue-lashing, but to illustrate a point. Whether it's the internet or not, derogatory words are offensive and stupid. Meriter admitted that he was hurt by my words, didn't he? But, he doesn't care that his words were offensive? That's called hypocrisy.

I don't think I would call that PC policing at all.

Its not ok to throw that word around in the same way that isn't acceptable to blurt out derogatory racist remarks. That is pretty well accepted in western culture at this point. Even my parents who were borderline fundamentalist Christians taught me that as a child.

There isn't anything gained from using the term, it just contributes to an environment of hostility...

I do worry about shit getting too PC though. I was having a bit of an argument over in the c0r about Netenyahu and Israel, and suddenly I was getting labelled as a racist and anti-semite.

I never once even used the word Jew or mentioned race, purely that i was criticizing Israel for their military actions and sadly, stating facts about some of the things they have done in recent years. I really had to stand my ground and eventually they all backed off but for a moment, I was seriously asking myself what the fuck have people come to when you can't criticize a country or even people without falsely being labelled a Nazi.

I know it's not quite analogous in this situation, but I'm painfully aware that some people need to stop taking some shit so literally or flip because a joke was made. I would prefer to be offended myself by a joke, than ever living in a world where that joke is not allowed. The word fag is truly offensive just as racial slurs are so it has no place here and it's not a joke.

Agreed and, quite frankly, I had no interest in getting involved until it became clear he was making excuses and trying to justify it after being asked very politely by deegee to just stop saying it (as he has done on a few other occasions). If he had just acknowledged that it was offensive and stopped using the term (i.e., a little self-policing), it would have ended there along with the drama. Anyway, enough said on this AFAIC.
