greatness awaits.

Maybe my next demo will be a minute of a drum loop. And then I'll throw a hissy fit.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-24-2015 12:24:

Someone lock this shit, or better yet rubez delete your own thread.

Posted by rubez on Mar-24-2015 13:33:

eat a dick.

let's not delude yourselves you are making professional-level tracks or something because they are getting released on beatport.

reality check. you are bedroom producers.

i have less than a days experience in the "studio". i could probably get my drumloop into beatport

With any luck, one day you will be too.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-24-2015 13:39:

oh god, no wonder he's dumbest person to ever post in the core, i totally see it now.

Posted by meriter on Mar-24-2015 13:42:

this wasn't worth posting tbh

it's not a 'track' it's the first minute of what could be a mediocre track if it was leveled correctly

my move?

how many sales has it got?
what revenue has it gathered in monetary sums?
what known djs have played it?
where can i buy a vinyl copy?

checkmate mf.

What is wrong with you? You're like one of those asshats on Hell's Kitchen who can't cook, and then throw attitude around with everyone else. I'm a shitty shitty producer and I wouldn't post 32 bars or whatever of a boring drumloop, ask for critique, and then be a total douche to every single person who comments.

The thing about asking for a critique is that while all forms of art are personal, at the moment one puts it out into the world, one has to separate criticisms of the work from criticisms of you as a person.I don't know who you are as a person and frankly I don't care; you asked people who have more experience than you and know more than you about your track and everyone was honest about the work. You decided to start making this personal.

Why is that? What are you getting out of this? I'm not going to tell you what to do. I will make a suggestion though: until you're at a point where you can have people listen to something you make, and then respond to them with the understanding that everything they are saying is offering you a learning experience and not a personal attack, it will probably not be effective for you to ask for feedback. You're not alone in this; every artist in the world is exquisitely sensitive to criticism, and nobody is able to 100% separate from their work 100% of the time. Just saying that it might be more effective for you to try to be a little more separated, learn more (I learn stuff here every day I read it), and then when you do something really great you can justify your pride with the hard work and success you've achieved.

If you read the WIP thread you'll notice, especially in the last year or two, that there is a lot of reasoned, well-informed critique of both style and technique, usually along with instructions on what could work to fix them. And you'll also notice that with one or two glaring counterexamples, everyone responds with "Thanks, I didn't think of that" more or less.

The irony that you're not recognizing your behaviour in this person is staggering.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-24-2015 17:03:

First of all why would you waste your time writing so much to him, who the hell cares/

Posted by Storyteller on Mar-24-2015 17:48:

It wasn't quick but boy did it escalate.

I don't view it as a waste of my time to try and help someone who may not be recognizing what they are doing. After writing that much, writing more will be a waste of time. Same as it's a waste of time, now, to try helping you.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-24-2015 19:27:

holy crap its mother teresa but the gay kind.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Mar-24-2015 19:34:

Alright deegee I'll lower my self to your level. Basically what you're doing is feeding the troll, if you don't know that means look it up.

Posted by deegee on Mar-24-2015 20:06:

Y'know, if I ever decide to commit suicide I'll do it by jumping off my IQ onto yours. Should do the trick.

It costs nothing to assume good faith of someone.

Since nobody replies you, I will be the one to tell you the truth.

You're 5 years away from a decent track.

ok, 1 year on... how am i doing?

done on a roland jdxi. stumbled through recording audio in FL edison.

been fannying about with the jdxi on and off, invested around 10 hours in creating 64 tracks (4 bar loops)

here are some.

I'm as bald as your ability to make a track. Sad thing is you can trace your production questions activity almost a decade ago, this is all you have to show for it?

Posted by rubez on Apr-14-2016 21:47:

my freshly shaven nutsack has more hair than your head

i've spent an accumulative, estimated 24 hours playing with various drum machines and hardware synths in the last year. and probably no more than the same again in the last 10 years with a DAW.

JDXI was the first time playing a keyboard. i don't take it seriously... i do it for fun (don't know about you)

the real sad thing is if you are taking this seriously, thinking there is some sort of future in this beyond having fun. there isn't... where has the last decade of toying with DAWs and VSTs gotten you? exactly.

where are my critiques anyhow?

JDXI is a great little groovebox/synth keyboard.

Sounds like 1993.
