I think it's one person (an american) acting alone. No doubt in my mind. Terrorists, in the 'usual' sense, i believe, wouldn't bother to do what the sniper is doing. Think about this. One suicide bomber does more damage in one instance than the sniper has done in almost three weeks. I think this is simply some guy who's finally decided to go nutz, because he think he can get away with it. He obviously has a GOD complex at this point. Psychologically this is fascinating. Why the fook is he doing what he's doing. What drives these serial killers to kill like they do?
What's interesting is that I bet a family member will suspect something of an individual and end up turning him in. I don't think the dragnet will be efficient enough to catch the sniper. He always seems one step ahead.

heres my two cents. i was too lazy to read all the other posts. i doubt it is al queada bc of the whole tarot card thing that was mentioned and also because he demanded rewards. he wanted something like 10 million us dollars wired to a place. al queada would do no such thing. also i beleiev it is one person. but now since this has gotten so much hype you might have what they call 'copycat killings.' there may be other people shooting too just so they can be in on it or force police to think it is related.
This is not a terrorist...or terrorism of that kind..
It's no Muslim terrorism. A tarot card is seen as consorting with demons -- referring to yourself as God is only further heresy. Either one of those is serious enough to warrant death under Sharia.
Heck, doesn't the first pillar of Islam (the shahada) state that: "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is His Prophet"
Moreover, terrorism is not random violence. It is violence with a political purpose. Randomly killing people could only serve to help a political purpose if people knew who was doing it. People don't, and so no one is benefitting from the terror.
This is just most likely some asshole with weapons training. And i believe he could possibly be a Police Officer working on the inside...because
a) He gets away without a trace
b) no one sees him
c) when they do rode blocks, he is no were to be found.
but its all speculation

Because there is no patern to the victims it seems logical that its just someone who's just this side of sane. I also think it's someone who's only training consists of shooting in his backyard, or at an indoor firing range. People with training learn to always shoot at the head, and they are very accurate, because the gun he's using is supposed to have like 0 recoil, and he still doesnt hit the right spot I'm guessing its someone without any formal training.

i've seen french news yesterday and they said there's a french sniper who "escaped" from the french army and that he was last seen in the US and that they are looking for him ...

Well i live in Richmond, Virginia.... and i'm close to the sniper and all of his victims. Personally i don't think its releated to Osama Bin Laden or Al-Qaeda... but you never know i could be wrong. Today supposively they arrested some guy (John Allen Mohammed) and they aren't calling him a suspect yet. This sniper is very sly and i don't they've caught him. They say this guy was in a white van (the vehicle they've been describing hurrying from the scenes) but i doubt this sniper is still in a white van. Its all over the news about him being in a white van so if hes smart he wouldnt still be in one. At an Exxon gas station on Monday which is within 5-10 min walking distance from my house... they arrested two hispanic men who were in a wrong place at a wrong time. Police say that he was at that same exact pay phone at that gas station 10 min earlier than the hispanic men. The hispanic men happened to be driving a white van so basically that situation sucks for them. I was out of school for two days because they closed schools since the sniper was so close. Now i'm back in school in what they call "lockdown" mode. It really sucks being an open campus school because we could be walkin to class and BAM shot by the sniper. Its kinda scary not knowing where this guy is and him saying that kids are not safe anywhere, at anytime. I also hear on Monday (first day schools were cancelled) a mother went to take her son to school (my school) and she didnt know schools were closed and saw a white van parked in my school parking lot. Shit like that is fucked up. I say they need to hurry up and catch this guy so i won't have to feel weird walking from my car to school. Those are jus my thoughts being in a first hand situation with this sniper deal.
Well, you of all people should know about this update...if you opened up a newspaper this morning, they have caught 2 suspected men that sources say are NOT believed to be associated with the al-Qaida terrorist network. Instead it's believed that the 2 men were motivated by anti-American sentiments in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. Both were known to speak sympathetically about the men who hijacked jetliners over Washington, New York and Pennsylvania.
Whatever the case may be, if these are in fact the men who have killed 10 innocent people and injured 3 others, they should be scourged at once!
