What's happening with Cherry Beach?

Posted by Nobbie Q on Jul-01-2015 22:03:

The city is getting antsy with the drugs a dalcohol being consumed there. They cancelled it today but it's resuming July 5th. But with no alcohol or anything else. There will be cops and city people on watch there.

I don't get it. There's been zero incidents there. Everyone has a good time. This city needs to be lame somehow.

Was at Cherry couple times this year, kids are overdosing and dropping like flies. Police have legit concerns. Thanks TRC!

Also, anyone have info on the Strobe party by FW?
https://www.facebook.com/events/792466024200251/

Warehouse? 3 rooms? Perhaps HEARN? Lineup is pretty solid too

Posted by Nobbie Q on Jul-02-2015 15:14:

Oding? Wow...well I guess not the times I went. But that's crazy. Ppl like that screw it up for others and now they're monitoring it hardcore....

I highly doubt strobe would be at hearn simply because I don't think they would want to keep that a secret...
I would avoid strobe because it's most likely going to be a trc fest...

it was only a matter or time before cherry got pinched, the younger generation is stupid plain and simple lol

Throwing a party in a place like that would be a dream come true. I'd have to find all my phone numbers old school locals from NYC and jersey to a nd spin.

Amazing. Will they be releasing who will be playing each night so we can decide which night to go?

Posted by ItalianPoiSon on Jan-28-2016 15:16:

blog to had a write up on this yesterday. There's suppose to be a couple of different plays as well as an interactive experience called the situation room where you get to experience the hunt for bin laden or something. That sounds cool but not music related lol

I don't think Unsound caters to dance music thou. Correct me if im wrong.

All those other events you described are part of the Luminato festival (June 10-26 I think). Unsound is just a small part of it (June 10-11). I also thought none of the music last year was dance music because I didn't recognize a single name but my friends that went said there was a room playing proper Berlin style techno all night. My advice - research all the names before selecting a night because chances are you won't recognize any this year like I did last year. I'll be going either way, regardless of whether I fancy any of the music. The venue is the main draw here for me! I'm really glad it's Unsound doing parties here again and not another promoter. They decorated it perfectly last year and I expect it to be either on-par or even better this year.

oh snap proper berlin techno would be the only sound that could fit in there! I might do some research before hand.
I read somewhere to rent out Hearn you actually have to rent out the whole week could explain the larger festival around it.

Posted by planetaryplayer on Feb-02-2016 01:35:

it seems the techno events get booked all to toika and 120 club now, with the odd exception of speedy j at coda, and now robert hood. ill take any decent techno booking in that thing. id actually take a good house show in there, but i would want it on the faster bpm side.

my official warehouse/factory/power plant/abandoned building party song

Unsound is happening @ The Hearn Generating Station once again next weekend.

A lot of the music is very experimental but there is some techno in the side room on Saturday. Orphx actually has a set from 2012 @ Berghain up on his SoundCloud. Don't be a schmuck and miss out on this one. The venue alone is reason enough to spend $25 and go for one night. If you need a reminder, check out the pix from last year's party earlier in the thread.

Paula Temple.
It was set up in a church, it was loud and the visuals were great and not crazy.

I'm pleased I got to see Paula without having to fly internationally!

Orphx is a duo... They played at Movement 2014.

30$ for 1h of ancient methods may be steep but ill prob get shit faced and wander off.

Saturday definitely looks like the night to go. Gonna be fun. Loved it last year. But we'll see how bad it'll be due to the popularity of last year.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-07-2016 18:07:

Thinking about hitting it up Saturday.

edit: fuck it, bought a ticket.
