Plus noise and (I think) sub oscillator.

Pretty much the same as 90% of all the other analogue synths ever made.

Should have been called Eurosynth like their mixers. Or Midasynth, because it's a mighty synth.

Posted by tehlord on Aug-01-2016 15:40:

They couldn't have called it Eurosynth, it's designed in the UK.

Behrexitsynth?

From what i read so far there are only 2 oscillators + the noise gen. You'd have to use the second one as a sub which wouldn't allow much flexibility.

Possibly, although they might argue a poly needs a sub a lot less then a mono synth.

It would seem an odd omission but not a deal breaker for me.

2 is enough, i think if added another Osc then the voice count would have to go up?

Thanks for this, very tempting indeed

My best mate has a MIDAS mixer which is terrific

Posted by evo8 on Aug-03-2016 17:50:

any word on price yet?

Posted by tehlord on Aug-04-2016 14:30:

No, but it's got to be 1000-1500

Posted by cryophonik on Aug-04-2016 18:17:

A lot of people are speculating $1500 as the magic number, but I'm not so sure. The P08 still sells for $1350 (module) and $1800 (keyboard). Granted, the Behringer has four more voices and on-board effects, but the P08 has two layers, more LFOs and ENVs, more knobs, and a larger keyboard, so I suspect that they may position it as the poor man's P08 and sell for quite a bit less.

Posted by evo8 on Aug-04-2016 21:16:

if its under 1500 ill probably nab one, everything ive hear so far sounds great

Just saw this from a guy who's been testing it:

"12 note poly with 2 DCOs per voice, but as you can specify polyphony, you can have 6 note/4oscs, 4 note/6oscs, 3 note/8oscs, 2 note/12oscs, 1note/24oscs (!) This means it can make HUGE pads, and massive detuned basses and leads that are generally only achievable using software, or very expensive hardware. This is one of the BEST things about this synth, and gives it a unique flavour."

Cool.
Now I'd like to know the price and hear some more audio clips.

If the rack version comes at around 1000 /$ I'll definitely consider it.

I think that's a good observation, although I doubt Behringer view the P08 as direct competition, and the pricing of their Behringer branded Midas digital mixers makes it look like they aren't really interested in going down the bargain basement route any more.

Saying that, if they chose to price it lower than /$1k then coooooool.

What do you think fellas? Sell my Poly Evolver & Sub Phatty to finance this? It'll have more voices than those two synths combined. And I prefer having as minimal a setup as possible. Will I be as cool playing a Behringer synth?

NO!!! My biggest regret is selling my Poly Evolver. I want another one, but they're becoming scarce and more expensive/valuable now that they're discontinued. The Behringer looks like it will be a great, all-around synth at probably a really great price, but the Poly Evolver is a unique gem of a synth. Then again, if voice count is a priority for you, then the Behringer might be a winner (and you should have no problem unloading that PE at a good price).

Posted by tehlord on Aug-05-2016 19:17:

I would sell the Sub Phatty on the assumption that the DM12 will be relatively affordable.

I had a Sub Phatty for a couple of weeks and thought it was rubbish Not only didn't it sound that great, but the amount of hidden functionality drove me nuts.

More interesting looking options, although the unison sounds mono

Posted by evo8 on Aug-07-2016 13:48:

hmm hopefully there would be some sort of pan spread option

Posted by tehlord on Aug-07-2016 17:11:

I hope so, although I'm not sure how that would work with the voice architecture.

Posted by rubez on Aug-09-2016 08:38:

price tonight

i'm betting 900 - 1100.

Posted by rubez on Aug-09-2016 11:20:

price: $999.99

Posted by tehlord on Aug-09-2016 11:50:

That's a ridiculous price.

I doubt these will be available to buy in the UK for a few months after launch.

i think you're right.

you know the best place to try and get an order in?

i.e. the biggest online retailer for gear? as the smaller outlets will likely be forced to the back of the queue...

Posted by Mel David on Aug-09-2016 12:22:

It does sound very mono doesn't it? I hope its just because they used a mono cable to record. One thing I actually love about the Evolver is that it sounds stereo and even has seperate outputs for each of the four voices.
