In the spirit of the thread I think it's ok to prepare midi and samples, but probably a good idea to veer away from tracks created with hardware and then mixed later. I've been doing a few attempts over the last couple of months and I'm still not very good at all, but I just bought myself an APC so I'll try and do better with that! Here's a short little 'thing' I did using the bloody mouse click method in Ableton Live. It's a bit crap, but it's a start! |

Thnx, yes there are some duller parts in there, but is has some excellent sweetspots, which are revealed later, the combo with the MF-104M is heaven for me, at times the right filter and delay is really hypnotizing
and a new jam: A4 + RYTM + Avalon
I like that, very progressive.
I kinda regret selling my Rytm, but then I think about Live and I don't any more.
The RYTM presets suck, but once you get the hang of the engine, you can create great liquid not so resonant sounds.
Raphie, where did you get the Avalon, and how did you obtain a proper power cord (assuming it has an American one by default)? I'm interested in buying one as well.
Ordered from Abstrakt directly, they ship with worldwide adapter and euro cord.
QUESTION;
What software product would allow me to trigger samples (from my own library) for use in 'machine gun' risers where by I can speed up, or slow down the triggering at will?
To be clear, I want to for example trigger a snare sample, starting slowly and then building right up in speed in a linear fashion of my choosing.
I DO NOT mean the old way of triggering a sample at say 4, then 16, then 32 etc. I want total control and not to be bound by standard time signature
I know there used to be a way in logic to do it in the environment, where the pitch bend ir jog wheel (take your pick) would set the increments. It's was somewhat convoluted but it did work in real time. I think there was a youtube vid of showing how to set it up. It was something for Trap perc and honestly, it was a fairly elegant solution.
I can do it with my electribe by making each pad (all 16) a hihat then changing the bpm knob in real time. It's no very precise but you can then adjust the midi to perfection in your daw and print it to audio.
You can also do this in Ohmforce ohmboys plug; it's what Norman Cook used for all those stepped percs in Funk Soul Brother. You can set the buttons to be 4, 8, 16 32 etc and jump between them or I think use the knobs for linear control.
To do it with a plugin, you would probably want one that with a sequencer that can be un-synch'ed from the host clock so that you could manually adjust the plugin's tempo on-the-fly or by automation. It would then work pretty much as RANN described above for the Electribe (or any other hardware) and allow you to speed up or slow down a repeating pattern of notes independent of the host's BPM. I'm not sure that I know offhand of any drum sequencer plugins that allow you to bypass synchronization with the host clock, but it seems like some of them would??? The easier (and more expensive) method would be to do it with a hardware drum machine/sampler.
come on guys ...
You just automate the loop points. Shorten the end point and the retrig rate will increase. Map a knob to that value and profit.
He's alive!

back in canada to see if my cancer treatment worked. I think the last time i was here was for similar reasons. Hope everyone is good. Speaking of cancer, is djRyan a household name ?
I have a hospital pic where i use the EKG clamps as like nipple clamps and i look like i'm really horny. Or i can post a picture of me wearing a yellow bathing cap and really gay short red bathing suite flexing.
you only get one/
Im already cumming dude stop.

Cancer, fuk man I hope you're pulling through ok. I heard this British Oncologist saying she puts all her patients on a dairy free diet, no milk nothing, and according to her the recovery rate is markedly enhanced. She was given a whole hour on BBC Radio 4 so one would expect her not to be a crank.
She said years ago in China nobody consumed dairy and certain cancers were absent.
If you think about it, drinking the excretion intended for a dog or Pangolin would be weird, so why a Cow?
......
Thanks for the 'advices' on triggering. I am no further forward tbh. Hardware I bet s the way pro producers are doing it.
Sure I can trigger a VSTi in linear non quantized fashion, but not samples. Mm.
Amazed no one has made software for this most basic of tasks!

Still trying to get to grips with clip launching on the APC and testing various trigger modes for sample launching.
This one is :-
Volca Keys - Bass
Nord Rack 2x - Pluck/lead
Novation Nova - Pads
its bitch cancer. Nothing too serious. localized and i'm just getting a precautionary zap. The kids with blood cancer don't let me play with their blocks. There is a pecking order.
back to jamming, i always wanted to be in a band of musicians that weren't lame and were good enough to do electronic stuff live/
It is pretty hard to find people that like eletronic music that are musicians and not lame. Jamiroquai with more electronic stuff would be cool.
Put it on your bucket list.
And then do it, sooner rather than later.
