Can i upload loop files. I have all my samples that I have made in loop files which are like 4.7 MB. Are these okay to upload or do you only want the individual sounds?

Posted by arctic on Nov-27-2002 01:21:

i would assume so, people can just cut them up in a wav editor......

Posted by John on Nov-27-2002 23:42:

dont see many new users.. i still see the same shit on the ftp as 2 weeks ago, so either no one has an account or no one is uploading, everyone must upload something first before downloading.

SM, I got back to you.

You say the server freezes? Could you provide some other details like when you were accessing it? I could have been using my connection at the time playing a game or downloading music etc. The server went down for a few hours on the weekend from a power outage we had when I was sleeping but that's the only time it's been down in a long time.

Posted by NicklessGuy on Feb-04-2003 01:52:

Its like this:
Dont happen when downloading, only when uploading, whenever im uloading various files, or big ones (i hav a phone conect, so it takes a while) it freezes and dont answer anymore, i hav to reconect the server and restart the upload from the crashed file.
Pretty strange. Only happens after some while of uploading.
I still can upload, but its just a pain, lol

I'm wondering why many seem to upload samples in mp3format instead of wav...a loss in quality and extra work converting them is all that it gives :/

is there a special reason that so many upload their samples in mp3 format?

I would like to know too. I guess its just for exhibiting skills, since the loss of quality is enough to make the sample useless in any serious song...

Posted by soundmagus2003 on Feb-11-2003 22:08:

the biggest reason people dload mp3 instead of .wav files is SIZE.
waves are massive compared to mp3, if u r on a 56k modem wav files are a nightmare.

Posted by Veverka on Feb-12-2003 11:32:

I uploaded all my samples in .wav format.
I'll try to upload some more this week.

Posted by NicklessGuy on Feb-12-2003 13:10:

So the biggest reason is size, but what good is do download fastly a sample that wont be used at all cuz it dont hav quality to be on a song, its just for playing-training, what i didnt though was the main goal of the ftp...

The least that could be done is to make 320kbps ones so it retains most of its quality and a quick noise removal would clean it good, but there r only 128 to 160 kbps ones there...

I hav a 56k modem, and only use wav. It takes longer, but it does the job. Less samples, but perfect-usable ones

Posted by Vizay on Feb-12-2003 17:02:

I totally agree with nickless...if your'e going to use samples in mp3format at least convert them to 320 so the quality loss isn't to big....anything below 192 tends to distort and crackle a little when you work with it

at least for me
