i really wonder how much
i think in France that's about, let's say, 700 euros/month for the first year, or less, and something like 400 euros/month after one year

The first 6 months you get 70% of your last paycheck. After that you will recieve a basic income (social minimum)

Married people with/without kids 1.114,19
Single parent 779,93 (+max 222,84 for rent)
Singles 557,10 (+max 222,84 for rent)

It's just enough to have a decent living including full healthcare.

Question

jp> do you think its alright that you and mostly every other dutch citizen pays so much in taxes to support some bums who dont want to work or do anything because they know your hard-work is going to pull them through life? i dont really agree with that, i think holland is a great place, but fuck-me if im going to be paying taxes that high to support the lazy asshole across the street who doesnt even have a job. The only good thing i can see out of that system (the one you and c-naptic are currently debating about) is that if you get fired, or for some reason you lose your job, you will have something to fall back on FOR an amount of time untill you can get back on your feet, then it turns out to be a good asset to the system, espicially if that person has a family. But if a person has a family and has no job, and doesnt really care either, then i say thats completely fucked, and shouldnt be allowed to happen at all. what would happen to the kids is debatable, but those parents are just useless, and are holding back the progression of their society. Everybody should work, wether its a janitor, or a lawyer, people need to work.

FTNB, having not lived in Europe (i think), you seem to have seen the situation in France and Holland (probably more euro-countries) right.
It's true that it's a good system in case you've lost your job for some reason, that's a fair thing, you still get paid a certain percentage of your previous job while you do your best to find another job (a 6 month delay sounds very good to me)

After that, yeah obviously there are exceptions. People who have serious problems, psychological probs for example, or are the hospital, or under heavy medications etc etc...

But most of the time, yeah, that's kind of unfair for working people to have to pay for others who don't bother to try to get a job. Because i'm guessing that most of time just take a big advantage of the society, which pays for their expenses etc.
Even worse, this system is so fucked up that some (here in France) quit their job to be eligible to get this amount a money per month, AND work illegaly at the same time, making way more money that a regular and legal worker would ! You name it, selling drugs, selling stolen items, doing whatever else that brings lots of money..
That's really sick to me...and fucks up the whole system.

Like everything else, it's good as long as no one takes too much advantage of it, to their own profit.

Thank you SNAFU-man, for your incoherrant liberal extremist bullshit. At least the Rupublicans in there will put some thought into their responses, unlike yourself. Get some tact and a dictionary and come back.

Anyway...Yes, some Republicans are just old men and have their trousers entirely too tight. But some Democrats are the same way. Yes, Republicans may have written the bill but it took a shitload of Democrats to pass the thing, and without much argument! I mean, in 6 months that bill would have been written from the other party and we all know it. Anything that may have a drug involved, or parents don't like the politicians think it's their job to shut it down. Whether Conservative or Liberal, these damn you people having fun must be stopped! Whatever, I think our entire goverment needs some revamping to get rid of this everyone must be a saint bullshit from BOTH parties.

And I'm ready to defend my Republican leaders for the next 2 years and hopefully more, because in 2 more years we are going to be in the exact same shit that we have been in and in 4 years it's gonna be the same, despite Whether it's Republican or Democrats in the next one. And you know if you argue that you are fooling yourself.

And I like Hollands gov't set up besides the tax thing. They pay taxes for bullshit like giving the homeless a shitload of money. I know I don't 50% of my fucking paycheck going to the guy asking me for change. I mean hell, , if you are all making that much, no matter how much work you do, thats almost communist!

If I could vote in the U.S. , I'd vote GREEN
They propose new and intelligent stuff, and thus are well apart from the same old Dems-Reps fights

Here's the program for the Michigan Greenparty candidate :
