Just wanted to close out by giving respect to both ABT & Izzy...
Our political views can have us at each other's throats in a lot of respects, but it's great to see mutual acceptance of these differences as well.
Even though I disagree with both of your points and views a lot of the time, I can still understand where you're coming from, and can still appreciate the why's and such.
A good political and philosophy forum requires passionate and informed people on both sides of any given issue, so your prescence here makes the entire place more interesting and enriching.
Anyway, enough of this stuff, time to get back into the fray

I'm a Buddhist economist in that I think our prosperity, as in the prosperity of our *souls* should be measured not by how much we consume, but by how little we require. Once you stop craving mass produced crap to feel good the economy as we know it starts to tumble, and actual progress can be made. As long as people are obsessed with buying the biggest SUV so people think they have big dicks, the world is going to be lacking something for people of my stripe, and that's really all there is to it. |

| Originally posted by Bedrock its really disgusting to see that the 'worlds greatest example of a democracy' doesn't even have a political system or process that is understood by more than 20% of the country's population. Not only that but the system is based on capitalism and not democracy, it is quite pathetic really. I find it ironic that American foreign policy dictates the way in which 'democracy' should be upheld in other countries, when in fact the democratic processes and systems (by means I'm referring to the appointment and elections to Congress & the Senate) in America itself is superficial and misleading... |

I actually wrote something negative to you to a prior post u made in this thread.but as I read on I QUICKLEY deleted it..after reading what you wrote above.. It is RARE for me to admit I am wrongbut I was entirely wrong about you.sorry for the quick judgement. Although I disagree with some aspects of your postI entirely agree with that statement above. I like how you said people think they have big dicks.because I always say that.i say that so many people go through life gathering useless things (BMW,pool, designer cloths etc) and never think about what life is ALL ABOUT.and to me life is about 1 thing and 1 thing ONLYand that 1 thing is TO BE A BETTER HUMAN BEING, not to be rich, not to be cool, not to drive a Ferrari. Just to be the best possible person you can. Sometimes it is hard, but I try. One thing that always pisses me off his how people litter..i mean I saw someone last night at a gas station walk right next to a garbage can, yet he still dropped a piece of paper on the floorI can not understand that..jus bugs me outsorry for going off topic.. LOL OH WAIT you cant read this you have me on ignore.. Well if someone can QUOTE me so Cortex can read this I would appreciate itthats the only way he can see itI THINK |
Thanks to InsomnEac for quoting Tiesto14, without going into anything that's better served by PMing, I'd like to say publically that I've been guilty of rushing to judgement on him, and that I was wrong for posting a near flame about him in another thread in the forum.
As I said earlier, sometimes my emotions can get the better of me, and in Tiesto14's case, it's more his *old* posts that were still upsetting me, more than just the things that I was seeing in quotes.
As I've already told him in a PM, he's off my short (as in one person left on it...) Ignore list, and I'll be happy to have him join the debates over here, if Izzy, myself, and others have convinced him that it's actually worth the time that is
ya thanks InsomnEac ...much appreciated...
Cortex and I have made amends...and in the future will read carefully what he writes since me and him are VERY much alike on life issues...we may differ on politics...but life is what really counts.
