Tomorrow is my wife's birthday, and we celebrated today with her family. She gorged herself on sashimi while I overcheese'd on cheese rolls.
Nice cabin, Zoso!
Also, Esther Ledecka. Wow.

| Originally posted by Lira I wish I had seen it, but it was already way too late (or early, depending on how much sleep you've had ), so I just watched the first end.My mother-in-law was super excited Japan beat Team GB in women's curling. Missed that one too |

He's never done carpentry for a living (he has an undergrad in biology, a master's in education), and other than a brief stint in teaching/administration, he was an Oracle and SQL DB programmer for 30 years. But he build that cabin bottom to top, and it's better built and more "square" than most "professional" built homes. But, he is patient and has great attention to detail. If he didn't know how to do something, he'd Google or YouTube it, and after a few tries, he had mastered it. I love that place. The inside has pine paneling, and it smells soooo good when you walk in. The clothes I wear over there come home with that pine smell, and I often want to delay washing them, lol. |

| Originally posted by DJ RANN In my experience, there's actually very few really talented framers out there and often homeowners tend to spend more time getting the details right than "experienced" contractors. My business premises was taken right back to the stud/skeleton and I ended having to basically PM it becuase the subs needed to be watched like hawks. Even then the place isn't fucking true Had a nightmare hanging the doors because the walls and frames were off. You and your dad did a really nice job, especially with the siding and porch, Please tell me you rebar'd the cinderblocks? |
