Metal Gear Solid all the way
Counterstrike
I've been playing for the last 2 years and it's still fun although the CS scene is kinda fucked up.
Cheaters everywhere and people cant stop flaming
HALF-LIFE
it has:
*WEIRD AND COOL WEAPONS
*AMAZING STORY
*ALIENS
*A BIG BADDASS END BOSS
*SO FUCKING COOL GRAPHICS (for its time, still roxx hard!)
*MORE MODS THAN ANY OTHER GAME
and BTW without it CS wouldnt be what it is today!
It's hard to narrow it to just ONE game...
Fighting Game: Marvel v Capcom 2 tag team
FPS: Rainbow Six (C'mon now, it revolutionized the gaming industry)
RPG: System Shock, System Shock 2
Old School: Contra, RBI Baseball, Tecmo Football, and TMNT the arcade game. And definately missle command and battlezone for atari
QuaKE 1 mega team Fortress has got to be the best game ever made it's the only game i play now

1. Championship Manager. Played all versions from version 2
2. Battlefield 1942
3. Civilisation/Colonization
4. Fifa 2k3

Hey, I just downloaded Mario RPG and I found out that it was made by Squaresoft (the same company that made the FF series and Chrono Trigger).
Mario RPG is a badass game!
I also downloaded Chrono Trigger, but I own the cartridge. I'd rather play it on the console than through an emulator.
Age Of Empires
heheheh
ummm...
1. counter-strike
2. ffvii
3. gran turismo
...prolly in same order as hundreds of hours played too

Quake I, II & III
Metal Gear Solid
Duke Nukem 3D.

total ownage ;]
1. Doom
2. Theme Park
3. Quake + Quake 2
4. Wipeout 2097
5. Command & Conquer
nein .. fuck RTS, FPS or any other genre i can't think of.. there is but one that is worthwhile and that is RPG.. as to the best game in that category, the honours must be awarded to Ultima VII, a classic by any stretch of the imagination.. (on a slightly lesser footing is Ultima VII Part II, and addons to both, one with that groovy sword, and that other one where you run around killing those Stone golems.. with blood in a bucket... )
meh can't remember names
1. Bubble Bubble (those two dragons that run around burping bubbles)
2. Counter-Strike
3. Mario Bros. (original)
4. Pacman
5. Street Fighter (super nintendo)
Ok full list...
Duke Nukem 3D
Age of Empires
Counter-Strike
Caesar 3
Command and Conquer (all of them before Red Alert 2)
HMm....all I can think of now. ;/
I think you are forgetting something here... maybe this can refresh your memory...

1)Baldurs Gate 2 (bloody amazing!!!!)
2)Ultima online
3)Baldurs Gate
4)NeverwinterNights

my all time favorites:
DeusEX
Final Fantasy 7
Star Control 2 (!!!)
GTA 1,2,3 (I cant wait any lobger for GTA:VICE, I want it now!)
by the way, i finished the game you recomend, and in my opinion its bad, boring game made all around the "time freezing effect", i even forgot its name lol
1. Civilization 2 (Sid Meier is a god)
2. Diablo II
3. Dance Dance Revolution (I can't believe this wasn't mentioned... if it was, my bad)
4. Shadowrun (Only for the Genesis tho.... SNES version = gay)
5. Toss up between Contra and Marble Madness
BTW, that game is called Max Payne and its 12345678653125th on my list
tony hawk 2
come on people, all these new systems are visually pleasing and neat options but the real games were on the old school systems, n64 got lucky with Bond Goldeneye, here is the low down:
1. Tecmo Superbowl NES, unbelieveable game, to this day some 11 years after i got it i still have it hooked up in my room and is the only game i play, just the 28 football teams, only 8 plays 4 run 4 pass, outstanding
2. tie- The Legend of Zelda NES, all time classic, first quest type game with actual thought involved and not just the left to right conquest
2. tie- Super Mario Kart SNES, best racing game ever, battle mode, different cc's to race at, but that game took some skill and had some great competitions in the battle mode, don't lie, you know you like the bananas
4. Bond: Goldeneye N64, best skill game (minus Tony Hawk) but after a while there were some serious competitions in college with this one,
some other classics that were just fun but not near the top
Jaws, T&C Surf Design, RC Pro Am, Street Figher, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World
SWOS - Sensible World Of Soccer
Half Life - When it first came out , awww bless
Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6
GTA 3 and the Original GTA
