wuts not to like about rap its good they talk about killing each other and biches and big cars

How can you not like hip hop even a little? Good music is good music. And every genre (even country ffs) has dope records.

If you're a music lover, you should appreciate rap's presence in the musical landscape. Maybe you just need to smoke a joint with the right person or something. Bust a flow.

That said, Nas has always been my GOAT. His discography and life speaks for itself. Intellectual poet. Doesn't make you feel like Pac or bounce like BIG, but his writing is literature.



If I had to recommend one album to someone who says they don't like hip hop, it'd be Outkast's Atliens. I didn't like or understand southern hip hop until I heard it. I grew up on the NY and West Coast stuff. But that album is the essence of hip hop for me. It has every spice and flavor someone could ask for from the music. The production and lyrics are so on point. Capture '96 like nothing else for me.

That's not really rap. Or at least, hip-hop in any traditional since. Maybe hip-house? That remix does remind me of that late '90s, Jason Nevins trend of taking old hip-hop (EPMD first released that tune in 1988) and turning it into house jams.

Only rap song I ever liked is Massive Attack and Mos Def - I Against I.

I'd like those beats by themselves though. Vocals just make everything sound cheap and formulated no matter the genre.

Def remember those. Never was a fan of Choc or Kardinal. Saukratees was dope af though. Canadian hip hop always did sound watered down. What can you expect when your PM was Jean Cretien.

I did learn about MC Solaar while in Canada though. Can't understand a word but I used to love trying to decipher his records. The Parisians had some dope producers on an NYC level.

Stormzy here in the UK is pretty dope. Don't pay attention to the rap here (Grime). But watched his performance last year at Glastonbury and thought he smashed it. Not my thing but gotta give props when it's due.
