Avs eh, what`s their record rite now, I think its 8 wins, 6 losses and 8 ties and 3 overtime losses, and as someone said one with that record and players as Sakic and Forsberg in the line up and few other good players that some teams wouldn`t mind having that`s pretty misreable, and I would agree. Canucks and Wild are better then them . Don`t flame about this comment, and yes I`ve noticed its the begninning of the season.
Thank God Maple Leafs are gettin better, .

Actually, there aren't many teams that are better than the Wild, or at least record wise.

And the Canucks could very well be a serious contender, if only they had consistently decent goal tending. They have a great defense and the highest scoring line in the league with Naslund and Bertuzzi. Vancouver is an awesome team to watch, hopefully they'll go far this year.

What's really funny is around here how many moron fair weather Avs fans hate them right now. Since we were basically given a Stanley Cup winning team, everyone expects them to win the cup, and if it's anything less they suck and we hate them . These are also the people who don't know shit about hockey, they only "like" it to go along with all the other fairweather fucks.

I'm sorry but Cloutier has been very consistent this year and as for the defense, they're not all that good. If we had a better D Cloutier would have a 1.75 GAA. Cloutier just saves everyone's ass and he's also the reason we have one of the top PK's in the league. Jovo scores a lot but that's it. Coughs up the puck about 4 times a game and those lead to scoring chances if not goals for the other team. As for the top line, they score alot but they're just brutal in their own end. This team is a long way away from playing it's best hockey, they're just lucky they have Cloutier and a lot of offense.

Today: Leafs at Islanders , do you say payback time for what Tucker did to Peca, tho Peca said he is not lookin for revange, well I guess will see about that.

GO LEAFS GO

The isles should play Steve Webb when that ****** comes on the ice to take his dirty ass out. I hope Tucker gets his knee torn to shreds. Stupid Tucker, what a bastard. HATE HATE HATE!!!

i'm not trying to be biased but Canucks seriously have a good chance to win the Stanley Cup... I think they are a very hard working team and work well together...

my second vote would be for dallas... dallas is also a very strong team and has good scoring and defense

I was at the game yesterday, Isles vs. Toronto.
You bet your ass that I am an islander Fan, and watching Toronto having their asses handed to them was a great feeling.
cheers.

canucks defence is damn good. they r mobile and have great positioning. yesterday they won vs avelanche and they didnt allow any bad chances (except maybe that rob blake break-away). how can they have a bad defence if they won 10 in a row and r rolling along like a fuckin jaggernaut? clautier is amzing between the pipes and their first line, the best in the nhl, is absolutely unstopable. canucks r bound to do some massive damage in the standings and as well as in the play-offs. they r the cup contenders in my book. i hope they obliterate avelanche in the play offs. i hate them. so fuckin overrated

They're D was not very good in that streak. I watched all but 2 of those games and they weren't exactly squeky clean. They were outshot in 7 of those ten games and had four games in a row of were they allowed over 31 shots on net . If you watched those games you would have seen a lot of lucky bounces resulting in goals and a lot of great goaltending by Clout to bail his D out. You just don't win 10 games in a row playing steller hockey

Well after last night's display and the entire season pretty much, I don't know what to make of my Avs... absolutely terrible. FIRE HARTLEY!!! Way it looks now, our record consecutive division titles is outta there... turn it around boys! but we just lost Sakic so how good will that be!?!

Love that Lemieux is leadin the league by like 20 points in scoring hahaha. Late comment, but man do I still hate the Leafs??? Most hated team in the world haha!! Steve Webb is my hero. Was that man born to punish people??? KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL

Yeah but all great teams can turn it around in a hurry. They just need a shake up. It's hard to believe Van, Edm and Min is ahead of them in their division alone

they were lucky in some games, but for the most part, they were terrific. they won today 6-3 vs oilers. mwahahhaah. naslund 4 goals. all of them were beauties.

My fav. non-professional tournament is just around the corner:

The World Junior Hockey Championships

This tournament always delivers exciting hockey and gives us a glimpse of the future stars of the game. This time I won't have to get up at 7 AM to watch the games either, the tournament is being held in Halifax. I think that Canada can finally get their crap together and make another gold medal run. Since I don't know much about the other countries, I can't say with certainty who I think will do well. I figure that the Czechs and Slovaks will have a strong showing. The Russians might cheap their way to a good finish (and they better not rip Canada off this time either) but I find that the Fins are the up and comers. Their recent entries into this tournament have featured great goalies and tremendously talented players. Should be fun.

Let's go for another 5 in a row Canada!!!

My original pick to win the cup, the Colorado Avs are not playing so good. The way things are going, it's gonna be one hell of a season in battling for the final playoff spot.

Mike Modano just got leveled by Jeremy Roenick, so there's some bad blood between these two teams. Can't wait to see the outcome of this one at the end of the season.

As for Mario Lemieux. Yeah, he's a great player, but I just feel that not many people want to check him cuz they'll be portrayed as something people will hate. Like for instance, he couldn't accept the fact that he got checked by Markov and had to go after him and remind the refs that he should be treated VIP. Does anyone else feel this way?

As for the World Junior Hockey Championship, I haven't followed much of that. What about the Swedes? Do they have a shot at winning?

Now that finals are over, I'll focus on hockey more and make a better selection on who will win the cup. My decision will be given during All-Star weekend. I believe that would be the best time for all of us to come up with a desicion and reason why that team will win the cup.

You guys agree or what? Enjoy the holidays.

They do have a chance. Everyone does, that's why it is such a fun tourney to watch.

Hartley's gone, about damn time too. Maybe they can turn it around.

This could be the Senators' year. Even if they play the Leafs (for the 5th straight year)in the Playoffs, I think they'd beat them.

Should be good.

Nice to see the likes of Tampa, Minnesota do well this year.

I hesitate on making early season calls, now we're getting into the part of the year that makes or breaks teams though. The middle of the year can be exceptionally boring hockey since there's no urgency like there is in the last month, but this also is when a huge winning or losing streak can totally change a team's momentum too, so it's perhaps even more important than that last month rush. Barring any real weirdness though I'm kinda' leaning towards Detroit since they seem to be working the rookies into the team better than early in the season. I love the canucks first line though, any given night any of those 3 guys can score. Right now they're my backup faves. Avs last few seasons though.. never count them out. They're a late-season team. They'll more than likely start winning games when they're most important and still will probably end up in the top 4 in the west. (I hate to admit it.. there's only a few teams I really dislike, mainly 'cuz I'm such a detroit fan... avs, stars and blues can all lick me.) And remember too, I'd have to say the NW division is the toughest one in all nhl right now

In the East I like Sens a lot. I hope montreal stays in the playoff picture, but I'd not be shocked if they just miss it. I hope Carolina just makes complete asses of themselves, but that's also the redwings fan in me talking. Boston and Philly are likely conference finalists, philly needs to make something happen on power plays a lot more though. My dream final would be wings/sens, but cannucks/sens would be amazing. Two Canadian teams.. now that would be an exciting finals. If all my hopes fall through my backup backup fave is Wild.

the one good thing I can say though is at least in the W, the last month of play is going to be phenomonal, just like last year. Spots will not be finalized until the last Western games are played I'm fairly certain. Things will get crazy after the all-star break, that's for sure.

Posted by Franz on Jan-02-2003 16:25:

how about the blackhawks? theyve gone 6-1-3 there last 10 games, and i think they have like a 9 game unbeaten streak going. they are steadily climbing in the west. the only prob-low goals. hopefully they can pick up the pace with Fleury in and Daze fully healed. they will make the playoffs for sure,i think, but the west is too damn wild to predict what slot theyll get
