Finally! *cheers*

The live sets idea was good. Just listen to a variety of songs/artists, find out what style you like, and go from there. Cheesy stuff is alright to start with, but there's always something new and GOOD to listen to. Good luck

Posted by Trancewave on Nov-24-2002 19:05:

hehe....I'm not sure if this was meant to be a joke thread but funny nonetheless.

Here's some more cheesy shit that you will love:

Dj Sakin - Protect Your Mind
Boy Wunda - Everybody
Mario Piu - The Vision
Mauro Picotto - Komodo
Franchino - 999
Triple X - Feel the Same

Posted by deej on Nov-26-2002 18:56:

can someone tell me what's the difference between cheese and trance?

Theres no exact defination of this.

Cheese Trance = the tunes what radio staions play like darude, mark oh, lasgo, atb and all the other shit
Real Trance = underground Trance = makes u feel good

Posted by deej on Dec-19-2002 20:43:

I was wondering if anyone could help suggest songs along these lines. I really love don't stop and 9pm by Atb. I like the way it plays half the main melody, then the whole melody. Please any help is appreciated.

Almost forgot

Reflector - Techno's love theme
Chuk & Gek - Dolphins(second edition) make sure you get the second edition and not the first. The first sounds pretty bad compared to the second. ^_^

Hey...did you ever visit a site called allexperts.com about techno?

i thought they were the same thing

Posted by Kirby on Dec-20-2002 03:38:

If you like Omnibus you'd probably like...

1) Derb - Derb
2) Iio - Rapture (Riva remix)
3) Dirt Devils - The Drill (Evacuation mix)
4) G Spot - Melo G (club mix) <-- I never see anything about this song everywhere but heard it once randomly at a nightclub that played a lot of random popular reggae and techno, and it sounded so cool on the subwoofer that now I like it
5) Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky (Peter Luts remix) <-- I don't think any of the other remixes are that good but somehow this one turns it into a good song...
6) Pulp Victim - The World (Moonman radio edit)

...

All the kids at my school who like electronic music (there aren't too many of them) all think trance is cheesy, unoriginal and boring... I do not know why that is, they only like things that are so ridiculously innovative that there is no structure in the music and to me, I'd rather have some songs with a predictable form than that, I just can't grasp it for too long...besides, people don't go around knocking classical sonatas by the world's most famous composers, and those had extremely strict form! Amen... (This is not meant to be a flame towards anyone, I just felt like adding it because I recently had a discussion about different kinds of electronic music with a friend of a kid at my school)...

I downloaded the kamaya painters and it sounded completly different

Posted by mndeg on Dec-20-2002 05:54:

I don't think trance is unoriginal, I listen to trance because you never know where the song goes, unlike pop/rap/rock

edit: with the cd that I burned it included, LINKIN PARK. rofl
linkin park, omnibus goes hand to hand

you also might like
ferry corsten - punk
talla2xcl - can you feel the silence
transa - supernova
atb - push
dj tiesto - suburban train
gouryella - ligaya (radio mix)
dj dazer - into the blue

Deej: Real "Techno" music is a specific genre and one you probably haven't heard before.

To explain it in simple terms you have "dance music" or "electronic music", broad terms which define the industry as a whole. Under this you have numerous categories, such as trance, house, Drum n Bass, Techno, etc. Each of these categories has sub categories, such as progressive house, hard trance, acid techno etc. And some people go even further and say that there are more sub-categories to these, but that's just a case of how pedantic you want to be.

If you want some real techno, try these tunes. You might like some of these, but it is unlikely as techno is an acquired 'taste' which you will eventually grow to know and love The tracks are monotonous on their own but if you listen to live mixes from techno DJs they use a lot more records than other DJs in the duration of a set, and often use 3 decks:

-Chris Liebing - CLR 01 (Gaetano Parisio mix). The actual title of this track is "Analogon" but all the MP3s are given the above name.
-Alexander K Katz - Seek and Destroy
-Adam Beyer & Henrik B - Signal 9
-Athos - Oh my God (you might like this one)

If you want some more recommendations, I think you will like these. Not all are 'cheesy', some are great:

*System F - Dance Valley 2001 theme
*Barthezz - On the Move
*Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Scot Project mix)
*Eon - Pocket Damage
*Push - Universal Nation (<-- a classic in the trance world)
*Push - Tranzy State of Mind
*Paul van Dyk - For an Angel (<-- another classic. You've probably heard it b4)
*BT - Flaming June
*Das Licht - 3
*Das Licht - Take Off
*Cosmic Gate - The Truth (original mix) <--if you like their other tunes you'll love this. By far their best, just avoid the Ferry Corsten remix.
*Arome - Hands Up (Scot Project mix)
Ferry Corsten - Punk

That should keep you busy for a while

Posted by deej on Dec-25-2002 04:56:

thx to all the help so far. I know I am going to get flamed for saying this... but I still 'tend' (I stress the word tend) to like what you people call 'chessy music'still. But as long as the music people suggest sound similar to the ones I've listed I should like it for the most part, not matter what type of electronic music it is. Keep it coming.....and thanks once again.
