Doof parties. They're known as doof parties.

While it's true we've got a pretty vibrant scene here happening, I've always had that same feeling for the clubbing scene over your way and generally around Europe too.
Shit's pretty lit here atm though after the lockdowns over the last couple of years. People are so up for it. Tuesday night I got to a crazy live techno party which featured Carl Cox amongst a bunch of other local legends for Melbourne Music Week. I'm not a massive Carl Cox fan or anything but the sets from everyone and the vibe of the whole night was so sick, it'll go down in the books for sure.

I know mate. Although my impression was always that a doof was a party out in the bush. Not sure how that applies to the Melbourne scene.

Overall I wouldn't trade with anyone. One of my best friends is Australian and she says the drugs down under are terribly overpriced and rarely the real deal. Whereas the UK is a stone's throw from Amsterdam and the ecstasy manufacturing capital of the world. But as I listen to the Manchester rain pound a rhythm against my skylight I definitely wish we could have outdoor parties here for more than about three days of the year. I'd love to check out the scene in Australia or Argentina, these hot and distant lands where melodic dance music holds sway.

What part of Australia isn't bush? It goes like: Sydney Opera House, bush, a big rock somewhere in the middle, bush, then finally Perth.
Tho' yes, Melbourne is technically a tad removed from all that, a little dingle-dangle town on the south coast.

Speaking of Australia and proper old school trance music, I shall add this to the collection.
^ Thanks for sharing! Have a few of his older EPs but didn't see this release. What an absolute gem. Now I need to get my hands on the vinyl.

It is quite nice! I just picked up a copy from discogs in the past couple weeks, I have only seen 2 for sale for the last 2 months. Before I was able to get a copy, CK confirmed by email that they didn't have plans for a repress or digital release, be quick!

021 was a year of discovery and discontent for me. While I wouldn't say that my tastes have changed, I learned a sound in trance that I thought had died years ago was still alive and well, while the modern sounds that I gravitated to grew more stale than ever. Part one of my 2021 reprise is highlighting the producers who are bringing back the sounds of the late 1990s and early 2000s. All of the tunes in this mix were released in 2021.
Thanks to the r/realproghouse discord (especially the #everything-else channel, aka where the good stuff gets posted) for the fresh digs all through the pandemic.

and another one!
Made this back in December for Reddit comp (as was most of Sammy K's mix above which won controversially :P).
All tracks are from 2021.
The ideas are back and it's fucking glorious.
Tried to do this all in one take but track wouldn't load at 40 mins ugh. Hope you like

What's striking me about this trance revival goodness is that it's not just some niche little Internet thing. A lot of these guys are appearing quite regularly on credible line-ups, and Resident Advisor have been unafraid of reviewing the likes of Priori or Sansibar. I'm wondering if the next year or two could see this becoming quite a popular sound.
Anyway, to keep the supply of tunes flowing, here's what SC auto-played me after I listened to your set, Camwin:
Some of the labels in this style insisting on vinyl-only releases are winding me up a bit. Sadly I won't be able to play any of the lush acidic tackle on this EP from Ukranian label Trance Pandemic, which is basically everything 2022 distilled into record label form:
Yeah, that's a good 'un. It's in the mix of mine I shared.
Another banger from Bliss Inc. This guy has to be the most reliable name out there at the moment. Unfortunately you have to purchase an entire compilation of mostly average tunes to own it:

ugh yeah, thats really annoying. I bought the whole Haws compilation to get Untitled 131 which was OK as there were some other half decent tunes on there but its only the Bliss Inc track on the radiant love comp thats any cop Posted by Midlothian on Apr-08-2022 20:52:
Sort of sounds like what might have been if the Webster brothers had tried to do one more decent track in 2003ish after that Catcher one.

You got merked then Dave, because you could buy the tracks on the Haws comps individually. Least it went to a good cause.
