Going to see Camelphat this weekend and Fatboy Slim later this month

A few mutual friends we know are going to Camelphat as well. I'm not a huge fan of them but any DJ/s who can perform an extended set should b a good set. I've never been a fan of the 1.5 hour dj set.

Love how friendly and helpful everyone is. Love the gifting culture. You won't spend any money when there. Everything is free. Alcohol, food, love, music etc.

While the mud did suck a little since we couldn't ride bicycles or leave if we wanted to, everyone still made the best of it, and the party went on.

I'm hoping I can go "home" every year!

Addison groove last Friday. They had to kick him off the decks at 3:05am. The venue he was at closes at 2 lol. I was lucky enough to hang out with him for an hour and a half before his set and we just shot the shit. Amazing dj, really. Top tier. And a cool dude.

Portola festival this coming weekend

Aftershock the following weekend

Feel you on the live music. A lot of bands from the 90's and early 2000's are touring these days. Very nostalgic.

Going to the afterlife event on Friday at the LA state historic park! time to dust off my boots!!

Also going to Afterlife this weekend. (Saturday evening)

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Oct-11-2023 20:19:

I'm hoping to read some reviews of Afterlife. I used to like Tale of Us a lot when they first came out. They got a little too trancy for me over the years though. I don't mean "tiesto trance" but big epic break downs that go too long. BUT, I still they're great and apparently put on a great show these days.

They def win the award when it comes to visuals. I enjoyed Anyma's set the most. Left a little early to skip the massive crowd.

I went to that venue once and it was a pain in the a$$ to get out. What did you think of their music? A lot of people (haters) have said that their visuals take away from the music. Wondering what everyone's thoughts on this are.

The sound can be a little repetitive. Slightly trancy.

As this years music season comes to a close, my numbers are in:

28 full sets/shows at venues

95 full sets/shows at music festivals. 31 partials.

Total 123 full shows, 31 partials.

Its been a good year (& you cant tell me that were not the best era for electronic music)

yeap! they are referred to as "melodic techno". I used to dig them a lot but as you said, they got a little to "trancy".

I don't know my brother. I had some good times in the late 90's/early 2000's

I would say that parties/festivals made a HUGE resurgence after the lockdown. Promoters knew people wanted to get out and get crazy and there are more parties then ever! So I would agree that we're are in a special time that we'll look back on and say post pandemic/lockdown parties were the BEST!

Being an old man with kids, I do feel a little fomo with all the parties I'm missing out on. There's just so much going on right now.

We ended up going to both nights. Absolutely FANTASTIC!! There is no band better than Depeche Mode.

We also did the Forever Midnight event on Saturday, 12/30. Honestly, most of the acts were a complete bore, except for Ame and Dixon who brought in their big sound. It's the only act that we actually listened to. Kaskades redux was crap. We caught the tail end of Greenvelvet who is always good and left shortly after Fisher started. Only reason we saw even a bit of his set is because we were waiting for friends to meet us so we could leave.

yeah I caught Dixon on Friday - good times! I saw you went on Sat.

For Depeche I got lucky and got a really good ticket at face value for one of the mid-week Fourum shows - always a great time seeing DM!

i actually preferred the show at the forum. The sound was awesome. It was our first time there. Very cool crowd where everyone was over the age of 40. If there was anyone younger, it's because the adults brought their kids.

If they happen to tour again, I'm brining our oldest daughter with us. She's 7. She knows we love them!
