it's cheesy because it's faking emotion. A cheesy track, or something that is cheesy, tries to force on too much emotion/not the right kind.

There are sooooo many tracks that are ruined for me because of vocals. I agree, 99% of the time vocals shouldn't be there. And if they are there, they should be used more as an instrument( As in James Holden - One For You, or PvD - Nothing But You). The meaning of the song shouldn't be there in words.

1)Jan Johnston - Flesh (Dj Tiesto Mix)

I never saw what everyone liked in the vocals, I thought they were utter crap! Shouldn't be there. I'd love to see a non-vocal mix.

2)Matt Darey Feat. Marcella Woods- Beautiful oh please
3)System F - Cry

all time worst though has to be

Planet Perfecto - Bullet in the Gun

SUCH a lush track, what shit lyrics!!!!! Her voice is terrible, amd what is she on about?!

haha, i totally agree - particularly because i was rooting through my mp3 collection today and deleted Bullet in the Gun as soon as i heard it again. id concur that 'forcedness' is the problem with most vocals.

I totally agree on the cheesy thing.

As for Flesh, I think a lot of people just like Jan Johnston's voice. She is definatley one of the best trance vocalists.

Cry sounds like a cheesy house song with those vocals.

Bullet in the Gun, the girls voice sounds like crap, for the longest time I thought that it was a high pitched male voice.

I completely agree. The vocals ruin it; what's worse is that DJs kept playing it in its heyday even though the vocals were horrible. Bullet in the Gun sucks sucks sucks sucks. Just the track to ruin a year of trance compilations.

Dj Wag - Life on Mars

-Nice tune, hate the stupid vocals snippets.. oh well, i'm used to them by now.

I agree with the ayu comments. I would also like to add any song which original has no vocals and then vocals are added for a commercial release (eg Ligaya).

Another track I would like to add is Dj Tiesto - My Love Is On Fire, these lyrics are painful.
