it's the new proggy that spacedock came out with recently inspired by the OS X navbar.

go to www.spacedock.com

you can find it there.

Posted by naeblis on Nov-23-2002 05:52:

or try www.aqua-soft.org
Dunno if it works, its down sometimes. But the program I used was called MobyDock, it seems to work well, easy to configure. There are lots of programs like this out there.

Why? Because it's a superior OS? Because it's basicly best of the both world, because it's a *nix with retail software support?? Because (runing BSD underneath) it has a real console, not the useless crap windows has?? I'm just curious, why you hate it... I mean, have you ever used it? Or do you hate it because it's "Mac", and "Macs suck"? Geez.

wow you should make one of those terrible Apple commercials they have on tv now...

and yah, Mac do suck in general, for all but the most image/media intensive applications. i dont do graphic design, and i dont make music, so why do i want an overpriced pink computer that i have to send into the factory to fix?

superior? maybe but its almost like comparing apples to oranges. what i cant understand about is why programs that should load in 2 seconds on a PC take minutes on a mac, and why it has a bloated list of fonts/filters/palettes that MUST be opened to use even a simple desktop publishing prog like Word.

my experience from them is somewhat limited since i only use them to check email and surf the web because nothing else on a computer that interests me is worth doing on a Mac(gaming).

so yah, i think macs suck...its a matter of opinion, i didnt say it was universal fact. i dont need something to be memory intensive and 'pretty looking' when using a computer. plus they cost 25% more generally for similar PC clock speeds|

does it help if i say i hate XP too? cause yah, Win98 sucks balls and thats what im running, but i know how to work with it for what i need to do with it...that is what makes a good OS imo...

That's not really true.. Saying a computer sucks is basically (in most cases) a quickly judgement. I was running my macs since '93, and they were also able to perform same things as PCs, but in many ways much better... A simple example is, try running a 2 or 3 year old version of MacAmp... You'll notice (that if you forget about video playback), that it kinda rapes the "modern" WinAmp 3... But anyway... I guess people are loaded with prejudices or bad experiences... ;(

Hmm... Don't run Mac OS X on a 300 Mhz computer and you should be fine, really..
That being said, Word is not a DTP program, it's but a word processor.. ANd it's hardly simple, considering it's one of the largest bloatwares on market

Do you realise that with MacOSX and Unix core, you can compile 95% of sources floating around, thus having an IMMENSE library of cool powerful software... Plus, all cool technologies and their integration make MacOS X THE playground of choice not only for Music and Artists, but for a programmer! I mean, I run Photoshop and build linux sources on the same machine, how cool is that!!

I used to be a Mac gamer for all my life, due to the fact that all my PCs were either underpowered or notebooks... I did just fine, imagine yourself.. Amazingly, there is a good selection of games for Mac, although not as extensive as PC ones... Personally, I had much fun with mac Gaming (and I used to be a abusive gamer back when I was younger)...

Macs are long since are "at similar clock" with PC... They are far bellow, and the aged PPC74xx processor starts to age. That doesn't mean that they aren't great computers tho... Althouh performances are not as impressive as they used to be. That's why my latest desktop was a PC powerhorse. But I can't wait to buy a next-gen Mac, based on PPC970, which in theory is to be expected anywhere from next spring to summer...

XP and 2000 are the first windows I find usable... In theory, XP needs a built in shell (and no, Cygwin doesn't do the job) a la bash, and gcc to go with it to make me happy...

Anyway... I think it's pointless arguing.. In act, I even don't know why I took my time to type all that out, but possibly because I felt the need to defend an unerestimated and great platform...

Let everybody be happy with what they run
