What an amazing viewpoint. Do ANY of you people want to debate this stuff or are you just going to post emoticons?

All that proves is that you have no idea what you're talking about.

The framework for the UN means dick. Haven't you been following the news? FACT: The UN is the U.S.A's lapdog, the day you figure that out is the day we start reasoning here.

Dude, you're confusing the argument. I love Canada, and it does a great job of peacekeeping, YES! I AGREE WITH YOU! But the politics are much more complicated than you think. I can't spend my whole night explaining 'engagements of war', just please accept the fact that just because we are in UN we are not the all mighty world security guard and neither is it. Should we increase military spending? Probably. I just said it would be cool if we didn't have to, fuck it. Let's be peaceful on our own, let's prove our pacifist nature by actually adopting that ideology and using it in that context.

So you've managed to define for me what G8 means. Wooo hoo. How does that change my opinion about military spending. Again, can I not have my own opinion. I don't get it. This board is so hardcore about forcing it's opinion on someone else.

So I guess we should curl up in a little ball and just forget about everyone else huh?
We share this world, whether we like it or not.
I'm not trying to convince anyone here, just trying to make clear what that pacifism doesn't work for countries with leading roles such as ours.

UN Dogma? U.S. lapdog? Pfffttt... Who's being naive here?
According to you, the U.S. rules everything and nobody else has a say.
Then ask me this; why didn't the US just go ahead and attack Iraq and just say fuck the UN? I think you're jumping to the US-rules-everything- bandwagon and not seeing over the US military wall to see that there are other countries in this world with a say. Just because the US has one of the biggest militaries in the world, doesn't mean they rule the UN; that's such a short-circuit knee-jerked high school thing to conclude.
It is not a case of 'should we increase military spending'; the case is already out; we have to. (Go read a newspaper or something; there's tons of evidence over the last few years about our delapitated military).

My case hasn't been about spending for Canada as much as for others (again, I'll say it).
My suggestion is to read a book (ANY book) on leadership and servering and you'll understand what my angle is a little better.
Ignoring others while you have the cookie is not only ignorant, it's just wrong.

I really could sit here and type for an hour all the backs and forth of this argument, I just don't feel like it anymore. Woot!

hehe..I don't know if this was brought up..but didn't we buy like 4 used submarines from England, and they turned out to have leaks in them.

That would almost increase out navy up by 400 percent when we get those fixed.

You really have to love our federal gov't......where else could inept ppl keep getting elected over and over. The other parties are even more inept.....what a country.

heheh yes it is sad, it seems we do not have elections anymore, but the leadership contest for the liberal party, who then elect the leader of Canada. It is the dumb op parties, the CA, and NDP are a joke, and the PC which i like, are still rebuilding, and do not know if they can.
