For a list of almost every filesharing app availiable goto
Zeropaid.

They also have reviews, some apps you need to be wary of eg. bearshare, audiogalaxy, Kazza, Morp. etc, they either install "spyware" along with the program or are planning on going to a pay service just like Napster did.

WinMX
great selection
decent bandwidth, filter though, using the napster servers

morpheus
avoid like a plague, crashes and hangs your system

kazaa
great selection
but buttass slow

audiogalaxy
bit clunky to use
great selection
so so bandwidth

btw dont forget that the massive amount of shared stuff with limewire aint just mp3s.. napster might had less but it were (almost) only mp3s..

I heard that Kazaa and Morpheus are basically the same program. Does anybody know if this is true?

Yes it's true, Music City has not been able to develop a client of their own yet.

One suggestion: If anybody decides to go with WinMX try and find ver 2.1. Ver 2.5 just about sucks.

I heard audiogalaxy uses something called "spyware" that moniters where you surf, and also that it is impossible to uninstall?

Audiogalaxy has been accused of being "spyware", sending surfing habits to central servers. Go here (its Ad-Aware) and download this little application to help remove any "spying" programs. You might be surprised whats on your system.

Ever heard of the black and white being spy fucking ware.. if ya wanna know ill tell ya its pretty weak..

Looked around and found out that if you pay close attention while installing Audiogalaxy that you can choose to not install "Gator" ,the "offending" program. Here is an article from C-Net.

Cant ya make your own conclusion??

You could go with
Limewire
Kazaa
Audiogalaxy
Audiognome

these are the best

p.s. Audiognome.. will always be able to use the napster servers cause these servers arent from napster itself (but than again.. it isnt all good for ag either)

My most used programs are limewire.. and audiogalaxy

Posted by Dj Lex on May-17-2001 15:04:

Yes I'll go to for limewire

Posted by ta_wilson on May-18-2001 01:19:

have any of u tryed cuteFTP?
awesome file sharing...and not only mp3s, only downside is lots of the guys there require passwd, and they lead u on a merry chase to find it, other than that it RULEZ

Posted by mucka on May-18-2001 01:20:

just a thought...

I hear everyone complain about all the share programs due to lack of shit you can find on them, the only way i think we can make a share program the best is If we all decided on ONE mp3 share program e.g winmx then everyone from tranceaddict would be usin same program and then there would be alot more trance available to all users we could all put chosen share program I.D's in our TA profiles so we could add them to our hotlists on the prog... i suggested winmx because of how user friendly it is and it also has resume function which is important if your on slow connection or downloadin big files!

just a thought and a fucking good one too

laterz

p.s not tried limewire yet, but if its better than winmx and has resume maybe that could the best choice...

Posted by Henkie_henk on May-18-2001 08:50:

Swamper should make a poll

with all the file sharing programs on it.. everybody could vote which they like best.. (also read this post)

The one with the highest vote will be the one the Ta's will be using most!

What ya say?? this idea was there before though.. wait ill post it in the suggestion shit

Posted by mucka on May-18-2001 09:03:

its a great idea

i mean theres 3,000 members on the TA site so lets say 2,000 actually use the site regularly who probably own lets say an average of 1,000 trance tracks each, thats a hell of alot of trance music to share not forgettin live sets and albums etc etc... definitely worth givin it a go!

Smoking ..umm..something good idea yeah :)

thumbs up to that idea... we could do a private gnutella network

but neway

i did a little road test of these programs....

i have tried winmx, napster, audiognome, limewire
before the banning, napster won HANDS DOWN.

i tried to get "planet funk - chase the sun" as a trial mp3 to download. searched for "planet funk" (wihout the quote marks).

limwire: crap, came up with lots of results. tried EVERY single t1 and above to download, none worked.
win mx: planet funk gave no results
napster: planet funk is banned
audiognome: ultimate. came up with loads of results, and when i tried t3s they worked almost instantly, (quicker starting than napster).

i have also used ag, but the interface suxx bigtime. and sometimes you get shitty speeds. my conclusion is that audiognome wins, no quesitons asked.

on another note, i have blackice, and my attacks went through the f*ing roof when i used any of these progs!!!!
just something to note for you pplz without firewalls.
