Come On!

The thread changed direction and started picking apart the DJ list and what they spin!

A good party should have good sound (and monitors for the DJs) and should be decroated well to add to the atmosphere.

And DJ Sauce should spin with Kid Lax next time!

And dress code? Are you kidding me... some of us don't really feel comfortable dressing up.

well film is a good after hours club..i think it goes on till about 6 or 7 in the morn....

as for dress code, i think a bsis should be ther but not strict...as in, dress up how u feel like but dress decently(dunno how to say it) i know for a fact that all our TAs(who i met) dres up decently and so it is ok for em.

so my man wat are you talking about? toronto throughout the whole year has received more progressive, house & even breaks dj's than trance & techno, thats the bloody truth! so wats my conclusion...well i think that the trance scene here is quite pretty dead

heh.I think you way of Classifying music is pretty dead

It's all dance music...

The trance scene in toronto is kinda funny, it has a good overall presence but very few dedicated trance events. I'd like to see a 100% trance night at a club, weekly/bi-weekly/monthly whatever. My friends always go to system on a thursday because it's shit-hop night, I'd like something where I could say "it's the 2nd friday this month, time to hit up club xxxxx". Having said that, I'm not to picky, but a good venue with great sound is the most important.

Drink prices: Lower the better, but price does not govern weather I go to an event or not.
Crowd: 50/50 ratio is great, but really doesn't matter since i'm not out to meet women.
Big name DJ's: Yes the big names bring more people, but as long as the dj's there know what they're doing the *feel* is still there. Toronto locals make me go crazy just like the big boys.
Dresscode: I think some sort of dresscode is good, just to filter out the extremes.

I'd like to share my ideas about having some sort of trance event here. Since i'm a dj I know that people go for the names they know, so i'd like to throw some kind of trance dj cover event where all the dj's play under alias's that sound like the big guys. I know it sounds dumb, but I think it'd be fucking hilarious for me to play somewhere using the name "Carmin Van Bluren" or something Of course, i'd try to spin in armin's style as much as possible and try and show people that nane isn't everything.

Anyways, that's what I want in a trance event lol. Just give me a spot to play in a cover night!!

Binary Finary, Binar Finar, Bina Fina, Bin Fin, Bi Fi, B F.

He was that good. Everytime you choose not to go see this guy, your passing up one amazing trance night. No reason every single TA who ever loved spine tingling trance should not have been there, unless of course they had a reason for not being there.

Transa sucked.

party scene

- Large venue with good temperature.
- quality crowd
- dark. minimal side lights with an awesome laser system
- gotta be loud
- a couch for everyone.
- reasonably priced water.
- fresh fruit / food
- large and small dj's who love trance
- space, space, space on the dance floor
- no attitude please
- more resident UK djs like scott bond, eddie halliwell, hardawick etc.
- close to home for once in my life.

To a certain extent all dj's spin elements of something else, but saying that trance is only trance if it's fucking Gouryella, geez.

In reference to the post in the first place I was actually just talking about dj's in general. He made it sound like all parties were dead. I dunno. Anyways, whatever.

man i aint being picky, but if you make a trance list i know you wudn't mention these DJ's first of all maybe you were thinking techno likewise not trance i dont suppose i should make a list of trance dj's now do i?

No..because if it has a 4/4 beat, it's dance music..

Which all trance has a 4/4 beat.

Electronica just means that the music was made purely with electronic equipment, which is a broad range..anywhere to Trent Resner to Kid Koala.

anywho- To gt back on topic, I forgot one of the most important things....it must Serve alcohol!

Posted by mecha on Nov-27-2002 15:29:

The things I want:
1.good vibe
2.females, very high ration in clubs
3.more tilented djs, who can drive crowd crazy
4.as been said before afterhours chillout (clean) clubs, where you can chill with your gf
5.radio support for big parties (like the once in Europe)

There are lots of afterhours places in Toronto. It's just after hours don't attract the best customers around if you know what I mean. There are many places to go....usally clubs will close there doors after a certain time, let all the VIP people stay and party for as long as they want. It's just that no one is promotong after hours anymore, because they don't want it to turn into another cracked out Comfort Zone.

But if you meet the right people, you can find Afterhours clubs easily. Hell, even ask the right cab driver..lol

I think what Kid Lax was getting at was the the RAVE scene in Toronto is dead, not the Trance scene. Everything has shifted towards the club scene, which kinda sucks because it was fun having a party a different locations.

On that note, I would argue the most important element of a successful party is the VENUE. I"ll be honest the main reason I don't go to any of the raves in Toronto anymore is beacause they're held at shitty ass venues like the Zen Lounge or Palais Royale. You want more support in the scene you gotta have parties at larger venues. Just look at the parties over in Europe, they're huge, the idea of partying with 20,000 ppl or more is appealing. Sure a small initmate party can have a good vibe, but it lacks the energy, there's nothing like hearing everyone scream at the same time as a huge TUNE comes on, or everyone insanely dancing after a massive buildup. Toronto needs to hold parties at the Better Living Center again. Remember the parties there? absolutely insane!
Unfortunately that's virtually impossible to get a venue like that but it would be nice to see parties of that magnitude in Toronto again that are net held at the GUV.
