I totally agree with u luke, Mikey put in an excellent mix, i have been fortunate enough to hear it and i have to say i am dead impressed with mikey.
He shows a natural talent for hitting the beats, getting it all timed right and making a set flow nicely.
Again i post my congratulations to Mikey for winning the last mix comp.
Well done Mikey ! ! !

hmmmmm didn't mention anything about a theme
How about each person chooses there own theme, and give a little info on why they chose each track etc.....
it'll stop the restriction that gibbo mentioned.....

Nice idea mate, I think that a theme can just be like 'dark' or 'energetic' and will help those with smaller vinyl collections too

I find it' s not a good idea because each person must be judged on the same theme...I think it' s the reason to choose ONE theme.

I hope you understand me because my english suxxxxxx

I understand u yes, but if somebody just chooses one theme, it may restrict some peoples styles, if everyone chooses there own theme they can do whatevr they want within it, and therefore get the best mix they can do, as long as they explain the theme properly

Posted by sykadelik on Dec-03-2002 12:32:

I want in!

Posted by DRM on Dec-03-2002 15:12:

Well nice to see me name in there. As 4 a theme, it seems to be causing some conflict already! i think if the theme is chosen well we could have one that doesnt restrict any1 due to their vinyl collection. Then again we could go with the other idea of choosing ur own theme but then there could be some very ambiguous things like a strings mix or something. Fucks knows wot im on about cuz my brain is mashed and having trouble thinkin.

Well im glad i cleared all that up 4 every1!

hmm...hmm...
Right, it may restrict some peoples styles...

"they explain the theme properly "...very difficult for me !!!lol

So, judges choose the best idea

DJRavemonkey, no conflict !
I hope all competitors will be agree with judges decisions.

why are no vbr files allowed? The only theme i would like is classics

Posted by Cyrax on Dec-03-2002 20:36:

Well, I'm back, and better than ever.

I have recently started mixing vinyl, so now i feel i can judge even better ...

As for the theme...

I DO like Az' idea of everyone picking their own theme, like DJ Zevan did in a previous comp (nothing but James Holden).

I also like the CLASSICS-theme, ... But i'm afraid the mix i hear last will have shit marks, just cause i'm bored to death while listening. There are only SO MANY classics, ... and out of 25 mixes, i bet there are a lot of songs i hear for over 20 times ...

Should anyone have any superb idea's for a theme, please make it public ...

greetz

that statement is quite contradictory....

Posted by Cyrax on Dec-03-2002 21:41:

by 'SO MANY CLASSICS' i mean that there is a limted amount of them ...

Posted by t0ast! on Dec-03-2002 22:26:

while a claxxix mix would be cool, i agree that it'll be repetitive.

maybe we could do one genre then? like say, all progressive, or all tek...or all uplifting

i think that would be more of a challenge (at least to me).

also, since i'm a judge for the MP3 compo, its gonna be pretty tough listening to all those mixes _AND_ doing one of my own by the beginning of February....is there a possibility of an extention?

Posted by Ian on Dec-03-2002 23:07:

Extensions suck, get onto it man

I think limiting to one genre is BAD

Some ppl wont be able to play their preferred genre what they're good at, maybe its time to define 'theme' once & for all (and no its not that cheesy jurgen vries tune either)

Count me in

Posted by Maxim303 on Dec-04-2002 04:37:

Smiley DJ

i'd like in..

Posted by Cyrax on Dec-04-2002 05:31:

How about "battle of the anthems"

each style of trance has its own anthems, let's say we tell you to do a mix with at least 5 anthems in em. The TXT-file with tracklist should clearly mark the chosen anthems ...

imo battle of the anthems is a bit gay, coz it means every1 will play airwave, urban train, gouryella, blah, u get the idea...

and as for "SO MANY CLASSICS" there are loads m8, trance has been round for ages and ages, so there is at least 10 years worth of tunes, its gettin them that is the problem

so far i think the b-sides idea r0xx0r2, but there ain't a lot of happy bods behind any of it, so it would help if ppl could say they are for or against this...

Posted by Ian on Dec-04-2002 11:07:

Luke, can u update the entries list pls, I think it's getting full now

wtf.. what was the post before this one someone? also seems to hav been deleted. What did it say pls.

Posted by Az on Dec-04-2002 19:17:

b-sides idea may work, but it makes hit hard for the people who are going to use CD's (with any luck I'll be borrowing my friends CD decks when he gets them), so youd have to make some pretty strict rules
also Sy is that a condom in your sig?

Posted by xKaoSx on Dec-05-2002 01:34:

Well- I dont hate anyone on TA as of YET and im from San Diego, California. No Bias here.
I do tend to like Prog and Hard Trance though.

Posted by t0ast! on Dec-05-2002 02:50:

i think its gonna be difficult to do a b-sides....especially for anyone using cd-decks. and i don;t wanna hear any of this 'too bad, get vinyl' crap either...

we gotta pick something thats good for both wax & cd...
