I use ME..... ME is better for machines 500mhz and up....but if you still are with the old school processors..like 500 and down...then you might stay with 98....... Windows is alright...but honeslty overall features..i personaly think Linux is the best..but the one problem is there is totallty no standard so its no point really to have it.... but if it was standard..it would kill windows...so much more freedom on Linux then for windows

got many prob with breakdowns but thats coz i use too many programs simultaneously like PS6, burner, music,system utilities and internet... shoulda buy more RAM

problem with microsoft is that they leave there costumers stupid......Microsoft doesnt want you to know everything and all the tricks with Windows......but with linux its much more open... that how i saw it when i used Linux it was and i think it crashes much less too.....and you can get many programs that are hundreds of dollars for Windows you get the same program for linux for free or much cheeper...but like i said there is no standard ..so unless it had a standard ...Windows is the one i still use

when i first tried it out...i didnt likeit what so ever some features they took out from 98 ...overall it might be more stable and crashes less....for a beginner it might be good...but for me i didnt like it what so ever.... it look like they took some features out of 98 and made it little bit easier to use...but i like 98 or ME over 2000 any day

win2k for a beginner? naw...quite the opposite my friend. win2k is more advanced in my opinion. it's for business and servers. 98/ME is home use. i guess that's why you like the interface and feel of 98/ME more.

I still dont understand either intimately but I can bumble through windows ok and fiddle on linux, though my dad is a software engineer so I call him at 4 am when it breaks

its just your machine that does it i didnt have problems going to ME from 98....... but it can mess up your registry....but you have programs that fix the registry for you like Norton or Fix it

yeahhh...system restore is worthless. i always just turn it off. it doesn't do shit and takes up LOTS of HD space. not to mention changing your SWAP file in LARGE amounts, slowing down your HD.

after more than a week and several tries of re-establishing my damadged win 98 and the final re-setup of it!!

i cant tell u all dear TA�s how fed up i am with it!!!

but i�m so happy bout having a 2nd HD to back up my whole primary HD, phiu... saved all my mp3�s, LOL

btw trying to setup linux in near future on my 2nd HD and try it out how comparable it is.
