going to the guvernment complex requires a few things that you need to know.
act gay, and you will feel right at home.

That, and the people can be quite rude. I've only found there to be any negligible "vibe" there one night (Ferry) - every other time I have gotten walked on, spilled on, bitched at, shoved, ignored by bartenders, etc. Why? See my previous point about rampant drug use! Sorry to be negative, but those are the negative aspects of the Guv - everything else that's positive have already been said - and besides, the guy who asked originally already knows the good things about Guv, since he's planning on going there! |
So oceanlab.... are you one of those shirtless wonders, who thinks they're hot, and oil youself up and walk around like you own the place. Dude I have been there and the people fucking suck!! 40 year old Asians doing the helicopter with no regard for other human life, the shirtless wonders (Like really what are they thinking? - and its not cause they are hot, don't kid yourself), the people who are so fucked up they don't know where they are, and then you have the cool people who love the music, and love to dance, party and can hold conversations. I agree the Music rox, but the people suck. Kool Haus is a treat when it is open....
I think what it all comes down to is whether or not you let it get under your skin.
I've admittedly never been to the guv, but I can say with confidence that all (most, anyway) of the clubs here in Kingston are pure shit. The music's usually not very good either. But as long as I go with people I know, and usually run into lots of people I know over there, it can be a halfway decent night, better than spending it at home on the couch.
No club is perfect... some may be worse than others, but I think the nasty shit will only get in the way of you having a good time if you let it. Just ignore the shirtless wonders, the ginos, the tweakers, they aren't worth getting upset over. I think if you just pay attention to the music and your friends (and the hot girls) then you'll be fine.
I've been to places much worse than how the guv is described and I've come out OK.
^^^
exactly. if you go for a good time, but let things get to you, you wont have fun. stay positive, and the night will be positive. simple as that.
TO has too many gino's! I'm not racist or anything but ginos whose sole purpose is to pick up girls annoys me cause they dont even appreciate the music.

The Guvernment is NOWHERE near what it use to be 3 years ago. But if Progressive and Trance is the music you like, there's no better choice than Guv. Sure you'll see cracked out asians and shirtless Juice heads, but WHO CARES?????????????? SO WHAT!!!!!????? If you go with a bunch of friends and go to have a good time, you will! Believe it or not! I've been to clubs all over the World, and I ALWAYS tell my friends that Guv still rocks even after seeing the worldwide SUPERclubs.

So what do you suggest? a bunch of baggey pant wearing soother sucking fags rushing there asses off? I think ANYONE that goes to those clubs that don't appreciate the music are idiots. And those people come in all shapes and forms. Ginos are the idiots that hang out at Palazzo's and Plastique, that listen to freestyle and Euro. The "Ginos" you see at Guv are NOT Ginos...... Get it right! |
hehehehhee
let the flames begin!!!!! Another typical Toronto TA Forum thread!!!

BTW, welcome to Toronto El Mariachi. You'll definately like it here. Most people at the Guv are actually a lot more friendlier than the people here at TA

yes the flaming begins again.. just hit the pipe, you'll be fine.
Seriously... people should consolidate their replies. It looks evil when someone posts to the same thread 3 times in a row.
YOu want to see what the people that go to Guv are like? Look at guvaholic!
He tries to defend the ppl that attend guv by being an asshole thus contradicting himself...lol ok i'm done with this thread
BTW, high roller is your name by any chance connor?
"Defend"????? I'm not defending anything. I just hate when people bash the Guv for stupid reasons. I'll be the first one to point out Guv's faults. But until theres a club that can compare to Guv...>> SHUT THE FUCK UP!

this is lame. Someone is comin to toronto and asks our opinion on the Guvernment and all we do is criticize? What a nice way of representing toronto. even if the club sucks..its up to us as the unique TOTA individuals to show this person a good time at Guvernment
Stand up proud to what we got...instead of crying like a little girl over a scraped knee.
He is asking what needs to know ... we are telling him:
You need a gun, a knife and maybe some kind of crowbar or other blunt object to defend yourself against the cracked out mofos fondeling you!
ok...All joking aside just go with a bunch of friends and stick together. you'll have fun....and try not to fuck with people cuz you never know what chems they r on
this is hilarious
Well, I wanted to check out guv first of all, its one of the first places I heard of in TO. But, I'll see about going to viva as well, or one of the other places. I'm only there from thrus till sunday tho
I'm coming from Cleveland- we don't have a huge scene here but its building really slow. I wanna see what the scene is like in places where progressive/trance has a greater foothold.
I know its not all going to be gravy, but I just want to get a feel of a city whom has 'been there/done that' as compared to a scene where I live that is beginning to grow... hopefully.
And besides- how can I pass up an opportunity to go clubbing when I'm in another city?
Thx for all your comments, good or bad.
