they used the word clubber
Cool! When i get my Techs i will most definatly do that!
I think I read about new Technics on ivibes or trance.nu
they support +/-20% as far as I remember.
Maybe these are standards in those clubs already ?
however,i got to admit that some songs that he played fast is better as they are meant to be faster
dude what you were say about the pitch slider
last time i checked.........just about 100% of DJ's used a turntable with pitch controle.....and it was at a rave to.....plus its PvD he can afford to go out and buy some new tech's if he needed a new pair everyday
so i would have to go with he used pitch controle to make it faster
I don't think you got the question right...
PvD plays some records faster than +8% which is the standard maximum pitch on Technics and many other players.
With the DJM 600 you can tweak the pitch as an effect. So he could for instance just crank that up a little and then use the decks as normal, would also allow him to vary the tempo much easier.
The other option is timestreching whihc at big events with a good system he could get the engineer to do very easily

Timestretching ?
pvd in miami on fri night hit speeds of 148 bpm and i counted 2 1 min intervals b/c i did not believe it. if you want to really speed up your tracks get the pioneer cdj-800s they have +/- 100%. so you could play a song at about 280 and get the crowd really moving

YOU CAN MAKE 1210'S GO FASTER!!!!! ITS ALL UNDER THE BONNET AND ITS QUICK TO DO!!! ALL YOU NEED IS 1x CROSS HEAD SCREWDRIVER
I used to do it all the time.
1-remove slipmatt
2-stick yer fingers in the lil round holes.
3-get leverage on the deck and pull the platter off. it might be stiff the first time but it will go ok!! put it down safely so you dont chip the magnet.
4-undo the retaining screws in the black plastic grill and put them in the lil well where that 7"adaptor thing goes so you dont lose em!!
5-lift off the round plastic cover
6-CAREFUL NOW- you will see a circuit board. on that circuit board you will see a lil' blue plastic dial that should be pointing to about 1oclock with PITCH written next to it!! Turn this gently clockwise till it gets to about 5oclock and it should stop.
7-put it all back together again
try the deck now!!! not sure what the new ratio is %wise but it is more than enough. and you should have the required result.
PVD has been doing this for years as have many german trance djs.
Hope this answers your question.
If PVD has the same 33rpm version as Korean DJ,
and the speed he played the track on the set was slower than it being played at 45rpm,
but it wast faster than it being played at 33rpm +10%
45rpm is basically 33rpm + 35%, so his pitch control goes up to somewhere between +10% & +35%
Or Maybe he was using a CD?
Doubtfull that he would get a vinyl pressed at an increased speed
Or maybe he played it at 45 with the pitch down -10% (which is the same speed as 33 + 23%)
Some decks capable of this pitch:
Numark TTX1 (+/- 50%)
Gemini PDT6000 (+/- 35%)
Vestax PDX2000 (+/- 50%)

Would he really take his own, modified technics? If not, then would he start taking apart their technics to modify them, when the club was full of people?? I was just putting forward a theory that someone else suggested, that maybe the decks were capable of this speed as standard. Ekstasis said that no decks could achive such high speeds, so I listed decks that, in fact could, but maybe he knows more about these decks than the people who make them??? |
