Smile

In Germany it started today, I was in the cinema at midnight.
But, I think Part I is better than Part II (better Plot).
Anyway, it's worth seeing it, the final battle was shot perfectly.

OMG, I nearly forgot to mention these pretty women

MIRANDA OTTO

LIV TYLER

im told that this is the movie out of the three, that diverges from the book the most. itll be interesting to see how many changes there are.

It does stray from the storyline quite a bit, but it doesnt hurt much.

Rasta

awesome movie....poor golom, or whoever the little guys is that seeks his precious....ahhh, the trees are sweet...good way to take a break between exams too

Just got back... AWESOME movie! A few nitpicks, the main characters are always predictably the few sole survivors in a battle, and you see the inspirational sam speech coming from a mile off. Gimli was used too frequently for comic releif, especially in more serious scenes when it didnt seem totally appropriate... but overall it was still an awesome movie! The helms deep battle was insane, it was like an hour long (with some breaks in between for other parts of the story). The Ents looked as good as you could expect them too. Gollum looked pretty good, but both the ents and gollum are cgi'ed and seem a touch out of place throughout the movie alongside real actors. But oh well, the effects were still amazing. And helms deep! wow!

omg i just saw 2 towers!! i love that kind of movies!!! sooo good!!!

Posted by sothis on Dec-19-2002 03:01:

big thumbs up from sothis!

they definitely changed a lot of stuff, and mixed up the order (in the book, you read each section seperately.. they change it up in the movie). took out a lot of stuff, added some stuff, etc. but still DAMN GOOD. they also end the movie before the second book ends.. which i dont know if i liked or not, but its ok.

Posted by TranceGiant on Dec-19-2002 11:34:

The trees..pardon ENTS were cute. Talked as if they were high (notice the ambvalence *proud*)

I didnt know the book (I wouldnt like to start reading before seeing the whole movie cause all my friends who did read it now reget)so..I was quite disappointed that there are no more BIG FAT UGLY EVIL monsters like in part 1 . Instead it reminds you of a typical medieval movie. King Arthur and Excalibur stuff. Oh and disyplaing Gollum's schizophrenia ONCE did it..I got the idea something's wrong with him, why show his mental disorder again and again ?

anyway...awesome movie completely 0wns the fellowship although that was a great movie too. Movie's will always at some point stray away from the book version because of the limited time available in a movie so people are gonna have to deal with it. but nevertheless...legalos is so slick!! i love the elves.

Posted by TrAZ on Dec-20-2002 01:56:

the movie consisted of characters thinking they are going to die, then they dont and appear to everyones amaze

i find that a bit cheesey, fucking kill someone already and make THEM DEAD!

though i enjoyed it just for spectacle i dont care to much for the characters, though its not much of a charcter movie and more spectacle so to speak.

it was a fun ride! and i will be in line for the third one for sure

soooooooooo good

Posted by _Nut_ on Dec-20-2002 05:36:

I ended up seeing this Tuesday @ midnite.

Wow.

Yea it did stray from the book... but that is hollywood for you.
I am a stickler with comp graphics... i can spot em a mile away and if they look crappy i bitch...

But with this movie....WOW. great all around.

9.5/10 in my book

Posted by Rakoon on Dec-20-2002 06:41:

Just saw it today and I think its awesome! Way better than the first one. More action, more interesting storyline, more suspense, more humor. Golom's split personality is hilarious! And yeah Legolas is slick

Posted by Fandom on Dec-21-2002 22:17:

Ok,i saw the movie but i don't know what to think of it.
I'm a Tolkien freak and i found it so out of the book that i couldnt concentrate to the movie!!
Elfs appearing, riders coming,no dark-ents,aragorn getting hurt, seeing dreams of miss-elf 2003 and getting wet(lol),frodo taken to osgiliath(wtf) and many many more...
But overall the movie was a piece of gold in cinematic experience.

guess i'll have to view it one more time to be able to express an objective opinion
at a better cinema, with better sound system, without 60 kids screaming and clapping when Legolas did a trick, without ppl around me eating crap and making noises
AHh im mad

Posted by Vanilla on Dec-21-2002 22:25:

It was good and all, but I think I hyped myself up too much for this one. I found myself thinking about how kickass the X-men 2 trailer was during the middle of TTT.

WHAT!??! LOOOOOOL
LMAO!!
thats EXACTELY what happened at my cinema too
I almost fell on the floor laughing so hard at those stupid kids who clapped hands when legolas got on this horse with a side jump (omg that was so cheesy it was cool again) and the one time he's dropping his shield at the stairs in order to slide and shoot at ppl simultaneously

Hahaha..what..is there some global Legolas hype I havent been aware of?

i wouldn't be surprised if legalos happened to be the most popular character...the producers made him and all the other elves the slickest and coolest characters naturally while they made Gimli the dwarf a comic relief character, which isn't something he is in the book...but its hollywood what can you do?

Posted by Greedy on Dec-22-2002 08:23:

i just saw the movie tonight with my gf. Definately a good date movie, my gf was squirming. The fight scenes were unreal, and what the director did with the bad guys was amazing. The ending with sam preaching is a bit corny and I still think they couldve done better with the chix with the exception of Liv Tyler. I give the movie. . . a 8.5
