My advice to you if you are playing for a breakbeat crowd, would be to throw in some tracks that have break beat in the breakdowns. This will keep the people interested and also give them some time to dance to something they are familiar with. Also be careful about choosing songs with long breakdowns. The cheesy breakbeaters are not used to euphoric 2-3 minute breakdowns and you will sometimes lose their interest if you are not careful. Tracks I would bring along as backup to what you already have would be Sakin & Friends - "Thunderbird" electro mix, Curve "Chinese burn", Lost in Love 2002 (Starecase mix) or Blank & Jones "Suburban Hell"

maybe you should start off with satlwater (i know its a bithc to mix out of ) think about it. you are going to be opening for drum and base (faster music) you donnt want to bring your crowd down.. so take that in mind as well

if you were ending the night i would say that that would be the perfect lineup.. but since thats not the case.. i would think twice maybe

The fucked up part is that most of them never even heard saltwater

Yes, saltwater would be good to open with and yes its very hard to mix out off so thats the reason i'm not gonna do it, i dont wanna fuck up my first mix.

Well, what is wrong with scooter? they have been around for longer then majority of electronica producers, give them some respect. And back in the day it was scooter that intorduced me to electronica when they came out with hyper hyper.

LOL, i have problems mixing in and out of breakbeat , and i only have 4-5 breakbeat records. People that i will be playing for are familiar with trance and its breakdowns, it's just that from where i'm from most DJ play breakbeat. Trance dj's playing extremely old and extremely overplayed anthems. Everytime I hear one of those DJ's play i just emberassed for all of us. I mean one of them played Sandstorm twice in his set. I have an oportunity to introduce the crowd to good trance from best european producers. Something no one heard before. Maybe my tracks are not "just released" but they r somewhat up to date. I cannot afford to by new releases, so i just try to use my small budget on records i love. Most of my records from 01/02, few are very old classics.
