Cool

Matanka - Lost in a Dream (Push Trancendal Mix)
is actually named: Push Trancendental Mix

and Sinead O' Connor - Troy (Push Remix) is 2001, as it was on the GC Experience_ Album (Jan 2002) after its original release about 2 months before

aye, same kinda kick, snares but M.I.K.E.'s synth sounds are the same in most of his productions/remixes this year.

At least if Ferry chnages his guise, he changes the style with it.

Posted by starglider on Dec-30-2002 00:40:

Unfortunately Twig is only considering productions released under the Push alias. Of course M.I.K.E. uses many project names and produces tracks varying from melodic to dirty tech-trance and everything in between. Sure, all the Push remixes sound the same. That's his most commercial project, and labels know that particular sound sells records. Do you think they would even let him do it any differently? Take a listen to Crash Guard, Liquid Overdose, Perfect State, Calling The Freak, etc. releases and you'll see they're nothing like what you mentioned. And for the record Paul van Dyk really has only one style (despite dabbling in other areas of music on occasion) -- it works, it's refined, and it sells records. I like his productions. But it would be impossible to call them anything but formulaic.

I do like some pvd music mike as u know, but i think its the general 'i know everything' attitude of him that pisses me off, like the prog heads who think that they're special, everyones equal here and the majority of us get on well

i totally disagree with this. PvD has produced tunes of various style, and remixed and reworked tunes from so many diff genres its almost hard to keep track of. His discography is huge, and even huger than most would know since there are so many that go unreleased and unheard of.

Plastic Boy and Exposure are both the same formula too

Come on...

M.I.K.E. or PvD...whos had the better year? If you say PvD, you are a dumbshit, even PvD fans know he hasnt had a great year!

(edited the list of MIKE tunes this year)

Posted by ExOn on Dec-30-2002 01:06:

I only like Silverbath and Icecream.. the rest is crap!

You know, you're probably right, but I still believe M.I.K.E. has a more diverse discography (that doesn't make him necessarily better, mind you) and therefore Twig was silly to make such a comment... but then again it was just flame bait and I suppose I fell for it. Enough out of me then.

goto agree there, pvd hasnt had a 'bad' year, done nothing wrong, just Mike has hammered out so much more.

Actually it's Push Transcendental remix :P

I agree, M.I.K.E. owned 2002

to those who stille say everything sounds the same

Aldo M. - Interfuse (Rework by Calling The Freak)
Aspiral - Music is the language
Calling The Freak - Suck my soul/Digital Affair
Crash Guard - Conclusion/Outbreak
Interstate - Workout/One direction
Liquid Overdose - Pure glide/Opium
Mass Effect - Plasma/In full effect
Perfect State - Into a different/Galaxy trap
Tribal Warriors - Spirits in love/Electra drum

I think this should make you eat your words. They're all great too IMO

Yup, Stargliders right. You guys keep saying Mike has the same sound, and thats true... but, only for a select few aliases (Push as the main one). You guys are obviously not Mike-addicts, and theres nothing wrong with that. If you were, or you looked into it, you'd see that Mike has a ton of other releases this year that you've never heard of, and those releases my friends are the ones with the different style.

Ehm.. back on topic. Yes my man Mike has had quite a year. I wouldnt call it the year of Mike though, cause it was also the year of L-Vee. Check Starglider's list somewhere in this topic for proof. I'd say their about even. Its always hard for me to choose favorites amongst these two

Sounds like another prog elitist getting off..... I like M.I.K.E., its not hard to tell that he uses the same formula but too me its different enough to where i like them. Sure his beats are the same but his melodies are pretty unique, i mean Urban Shakedown is the shit. Just because an artist may use the same formula doesnt mean his shit cant be unique and that u have to be stupid to listen to it.

trite, you name is WRONG. ALL names start with a capital letter and as yours does not, then it is not valid. I suggest you re-register with a capital 'T' and then you may post again.

Hahah hilarious

M.I.K.E tore it up in 2002.............most of his production/remixes are mint

Especially Silverbath and Urban Shakedown

I think the runner-up is L-Vee..........

for me too, but i'd say l-vee this time. it's "when things go wrong" that did it for me..

Just what I was thinking, only not quite as severe If he did more tracks like 2 Players - Signet (Plastic Angel Remix) I'd like him.

Why should he make tracks like Plastic Angel? He has his own style

oh, are you confusing Plastic Angel with Plastic Boy? Two different people (Plastic Angel aka Elef browses the forums here quite regularly)

Dancing Dude

mike and l-vee ruled this year, but armin has had a good year

dont worry Luke, I can never spell that properly either

Posted by noikeee on Dec-30-2002 18:52:

yes M.I.K.E. is the shit. My favourite artist of them all.

He does make some similar tracks but he's good at what he's doing. If you check the other producers that release tons of tracks like him you'll see everyone makes a few tracks that sound identical.

But for Exposure - Magic Impuls, give some credit to Paul Mendez too.. he colaborated with M.I.K.E. for this tune.

I agree that both MIKE and L-Vee have had a great year, I would give the edge to L-Vee though, only slightly I have just enjoyed his tunes more personally thats all

Posted by Typhoon on Dec-30-2002 22:52:

I humbly think this was Armin's year. But then on the other hand I never really loved L-Vee or M.I.K.E. particularly.....maybe it's just me
