Slight difference.

how is a 'all wheel drive' car with 4 wheels different to a '4 wheel drive car' that also has 4 wheels?

the off-road ones have different modes and shit dont they?

jp, is that yours?
22b?

difference in philosophy .. i'm not a car nut so i can't explain it particulaly well

though i have noticed recently those smaller 4WD cars (think Daihatsu Terios, Honda CRV etc) are being marketed as AWD, not 4WD

Holy shit, that isn't the 22B is it? If it is, god damn, you have one quick Scooby.

Heheh... you fellas should see the havoc caused in the road down to my school. Parking all down one side, the car's are either a BMW, Merc or a big 4WD. Parking all down one side of the street (not the parralel kind) and the traffic is non stop down the road during the peak times (before n after school). So how do you get outta ur parking spot? Merely stick the thing in reverse and jam ya foot on the accelerater. Might as well close ur eyes as you pull out infront of traffic, as either way, if ur gonna crash, ur gonna crash

If a 4wd isn't going to be used in situations where it's required, its pointless...although its fair if you have a big family or go on road trips and need the space.

The first 4 wheel drive car was build by Dutch people

"The Spijker"

Last year, some people designed and released a new Spijker:

Subaru was the first to make a modern 4WD road car, the Leone (1972)

That blue Subaru WRX-STI-V isn't mine unfortunately

The STI-GT22B is even wider, just check this photo:

I currently drive a red Subaru Legacy RS and a Subaru Coupe

i was in my dad's wrx, so me and this skyline tried to see who could get to 90 first (we were @ the toll booth on the M2), we took off, it was pretty even, then this dun up hyundai excel flies past both of us.... next thing i hear is the police siren, i was laughing so hard i nearly ran into the barricade

needless to say, my dad was shittin himself

The done up Excel wasn't being chased for speeding, but for breaking the law which implies that no poofy car may be allowed to be souped up.

When will people learn, no matter how higher pressure ur turbo is, or how slick ur bodykit is.. you can't make a Hyundai Excel look cool

yep, flared guards, plus the front spoiler is TOTALY different to a crappy standard sti:

and the difference between 4WD and AWD:

4WD is almost "always" part time, meaning you have to lock the center diff to enable all 4 wheels to be driven. Most of the time you just drive around in RWD mode....

while, AWD is "always" full time, and so you dont have the option to do FWD/RWD burnouts / doughnuts / snakies etc.

theres also "FULL TIME 4WD" but thats the same as AWD.

haha
this is so 100% true.

Whats even more funnier is people driving around really old pos cars and trying to do them up, ie datsuns.

Or people which spend thousands on exhaust mods, and end up with a 3" exhaust with a 1.5 4 litre engine with no mods.

Anyone remember that KFC add where the 'cool' disco superduper modded excel goes through the drivethru?

Stupidest car ever. Nuff said

what, shitting himself because of the cops or because there was a hyundai excel going faster than the wrx and skyline???

Posted by webmeister on Jan-21-2003 13:29:

Ballistic mate, if you were in a WRX and got creamed by an Excel, you can't drive for crap

I was this close to buying a $45k Toyota Supra a few months back ... still not sure why I decided not too :/

Posted by innominate on Jan-21-2003 14:24:

4wd have a very very very important use... getting to and from doofs.

that you guys have completely neglected to mention that and that you would also ??did i see that before?? bag vans and people movers demonstrates a true lack of understanding of the point that it aint how you get to the party but how much fun you have when you are there!

exactly...... well atleast i can still kill most cars on the road. I'm not complaining with 0-100 in under 6 seconds either, and i think most of the time i would rather rear wheel drive than all four, most of the time that is.....

hahaha nah just how fast we accelerated

and fyi: the excel beat us cause we stayed under speed limit hence the reason why the cop chased the excel
