You know.. I probably love ARIA just as much as the rest of you.. But I swear some of you must be paid to promote that place

Posted by malek on Jan-22-2003 00:26:

hahaha you must be used to Ottawa's neverending criticism!!! On XVI whatever you say, related to clubbing or not, a bunch will come and bash the hell out of you... always like that and its annoying!!

oh yeah and some are paid hehehe

Im not bashing a single person.. Just stating a simple fact that I dont hear much about the other clubs on Montreal. Plus I dont post on XVI..

And see some of my assumptions were right about people being paid

Posted by fastmp3 on Jan-22-2003 00:31:

a lot of people ask me if i work for aria or i get paid but my answer is no , i just love the place so much from the sound to the venue to the security to the dj booth etc ... everything in there is perfect to me

my friend who came up here from miami fro tiesto said the same thing. he said aria surpassed his expectations, that it was def better than space and that it's the #1 club in all of n-america!!! wooow! we are the luckiest!!! hehe!

besides -gettin paid for promoting aria?! are u kidding? if i was paid it would mean someone had to drag me there by my ears ... all it takes is a bit of twisting of that rubber arm, but only when i'm in a half comatose state!

Marco V wasnt using hte new mixer?
whatts up with that?

I don't know about Aria being the BEST club in North America. It does have this unique underground look which is kind of cool, but IMHO both Guvernment and Viva are better venues. Aria is up there though! When Biggy gets lazers installed there, I'll definitely reconsider my opinion ! BTW, one thing that is better about Aria is the DJ booth. That's one thing that impressed me the most !

the new V6 mixer is not designed for fast cut and effects, it's just a mixer, not an EQ killer or whatever... its most likely used by prog and house djs.

About Aria, i'm glad there's no lazer, it's ridiculous otherwise it would be like any other cheesy club in America

I didn't want to say it, but basically that's about it!

I disagree MAzen

laser would do soo much to aria make it much better.. but not cheesy lasers.. good ones

Posted by malek on Jan-26-2003 20:33:

i saw a video clip of Viva (on their website) and the lasers seemed overkill... it was like 200 LPM (lasers per minute) hehehe

and technofreak: i remember you asking why the light show was different that time. Two reasons: the first because they removed the screens from the sides giving an impression of a bigger room and also they can use the side lights which were blocked by the screens. And the light guy was the one on saturdays i think. And they do have different styles

Posted by morsy on Jan-26-2003 21:32:

lasers my ass man ok light shows and stuff thats wonderful but lets not go to the extreeeemzz cauz it still is about the music
and i see that biggy knows about his music the club is wonderful as it is ,nice booth nice sound but lazers that would be too much .it isnt all about the drugs and the experience waaawa waaaw lazersss dudeeee .lets just keep it simple with a few twists so that we still keep a focuse on what the dj is playin ..so people lets just keep on dancin
ps:IMO

So basically... he didn't use because you can't do fuck all with it other then produce good sound out of it. I wouldn't want to use it either, doesn't seem that fun.

At our other club in Quebec city, there is lasers since 12 years and there is nothing new or underground about lasers.

Lasers are really 80's style and every big clubs in the late 80's were equiped with lasers. Every raves, every Ibiza clubs, it's just too much! For a special event ok, but every nights, not really!

Aria is working more on the dj's, visuals, underground lighting, good sound etc... At the moment, there is no club in TO who are bringing that much talents as Aria.

Well I used to be pissed that it doesnt have any.. but really what purpose do theyt serve. I have to agree now I wouldnt want them. It makes it feel like the dome or some flakey pre pubescent hangout. Personally the music, vibe and the people make a good club for me and not a bunch of lazers. thats just me though.

Posted by Biggy on Jan-27-2003 03:58:

Lasers can be cool, but not evrey nights!

Posted by discojoe on Jan-27-2003 04:12:

Well one club I really want to go see is ARC in NY. no glowsticks and I dont think any lazers. More elegant than extravagant, something with a little class and taste.

LOL dont compare aria to any club in ottawa.. especially not the dome haha

the dome has shitty lazers.. which make the club very childish and gay

im talking about something like the guv.. or the ones they have up in senstation

something crazy.. lasers + strobe = perfect for uplifting trance..

i would have to agree with you biggie.. yes not on every night.. only for the most uplifting djs

Still, I think lazers would be awesome. Everybody who has seen lazers at Guv and Viva has been thoroughly impressed. It's not the same thing as seeing them on video.
I haven't been to your clubs in Quebec City, but are they the same lazers they use at Viva and Guv? if not, you can't even compare !

Posted by malek on Jan-28-2003 00:10:

lazers are awesome of course! nobody is disputing that!! but if you are a regular, this will get on your nerves. Also lasers are well suited to trance nights, but house? techno nights? not sure about that...

its just not suited for a club like aria that wants to keep its "underground" look.

ya that's why i post here more often, quite sad its distroying the ottawa vibe, as for aria, i just love the place. been to other montreal club, they just don't compare.

Posted by Mike_B on Jan-28-2003 01:04:

as for lazer, when you guys had one for lawler last summer it was pretty sweet, but everynight would be wayyyyyyyy too much, like malek said for a regular who's trying the listen to the music, its kinda distracting.
