I LOVE IT

first time I heard it, I didn't like at all but it grow up in me and now I LOVE. BUT the original mix is the best anyway.

It seems nowadays any track with lyrics is either "cheesy" or ruined... Obviously no remix of airwave will stand up the original, but now this track sucks? I mean comeone. It's an ok tune. Nothing great and nothing horrible. The lyrics are allright. The reason I don't think it's all that is because nothing great is added to it. Sounds too plain and boring.

cheers

I personally liked it, but the original will always be better, but i agree they should have just made a new song instead. But why do people hate vocal trance? I liked the vocals on this track, and in no way are they like dj sammy's vocals on any of his tracks, its not like they took a BRYAN ADAMS song and decided to use the vocals or some old famous tune. The vocals were original, and not overused they don't sound anything poppy or euro-dance like, and the girl had a beautiful voice. Maybe i'm missing the point here? I guess i'm with the small minority, that loves the remake. Just thought i'd jump in. Later.

I think everyone doesn't like it becuase Rank 1 tried to capitalize on a classic tune that many people love. There is no reason that Rank 1 couldn't have made a new tune to use the vocals for. I mean, they even changed the name ffs.

i like it pretty much! the vocals suit the track very nicely and don`t kill the main melody that much, becouse they`re only in the buildup!

lyrics go a bit like this:

breathing, feel it on my skin
your breathing, falling into your arms again
i spread my wings and fly, hold my head up high
(.. can`t hear what she sings then ..)

i like the other parts of the song also, nice bassline, percussion etc.

and wtf, the original was commercial too(has its own video, got played on the radio)

Benfica, no. There are great examples of tracks with vocals that are not cheesy, and it has to do with:

1. the sound of the vocalist

2. the lyrics written for the vocalist

Now, I must say that the sound of the vocalist purely resembles the shit that DJ Sammy spews over the commercial radio stations. If it had vocals like those found in something like Oakenfold's Southern Sun (not saying it's a good track but the woman's voice is good), then it would be much better. Another example would be Evolution feat. Jayn Hanna - Walking on Fire.

Also, the lyrics written seem to be aimed at some mainstream crowd. Breathing? Shit, it sounds a lot like 4 Strings - Diving... written just to entertain those who don't find the melody appealing.

I just think that if there is a classic, most likely, you won't be able to improve upon it. Rank 1 have done NOTHING SPECIAL since Airwave. I moderately like Such is Life, but everything they've done have been pure shit. I find Awakening to be pure shit. All their remixes, from Reaches of Civilisation, to Dreamland, have been pure shit. They're living on their reputation and they're not gonna get far with it unless they produce some better music.

Sorry.. i just don't like those who live on reputation.

Airwave is a classic, now it's only another of those tracks that you may become sick of because of a worse new version.

Yeah, lately there's a lot of Rank 1 remixes of Airwave music.
I mean lately its getting hard to tell their music apart because of that. =\

I agree with what a guy said earlier, Rank 1 used to be mint and Airwave is still good.

BTW, haven't heard the remix or the original yet.. well maybe I heard the Airwave one but so long ago I forgot.

Posted by vito on Jan-25-2003 20:53:

haven't heard this
but vocals aren't necessarily cheesy, personally i hate when they add vocals to a tune that was already good without them e.g. riva - stringer (i still hate that they added vocals to it)
Andy Hunter - Amazing, good vocals

anyway the original mix was never the best, dutch force mix kicks arse

rank 1 have done some good stuff since airwave, but nothing that came close, the future doesn't look bright for them, airwave 2003 re-release and this thing

this is the airwave 2003 re-release, its only named "breathing"

I was hoping airwave 2003 would be more like the way it was performed by Rank 1 @ Trance Energy 2002.

Posted by Alccode on Jan-25-2003 21:37:

OK, i've finally heard it and can't say i'm impressed overall. the vocals ARE incredibly cheesy, you might very well laugh at them! (i did)

however, if you take away the vocals, what you're left with is a nice rendition of airwave - BUT - it's only airwave, after all. why they would make a "new" version, and change the name, is beyond me - it's as if they want to imply it's a new track, when it's really not. it's just an old track, done a little differently.

c'mon rank 1, where's the creativity gone?

EDIT: btw, with the vocals factored in, this track is absolutely terrible. just stick to the "old" Airwave.

PS. if there's a DUB version of this, i might consider getting the vinyl. otherwise there's no chance.

rank 1 seems to have ran out of idea for new tracks

Posted by Coup on Jan-26-2003 23:33:

it's a bag of shit.

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jan-27-2003 00:37:

King

i like the tune, just not the vocals, they suck donkey arse
no offense to rank 1, but the vocals really do stink, the energy of the track is good and uplifting, but the vocals make it into cheese
rip out the vocals and me happy chappy
