hehe either way, i think i should check this out, hope a lot of you guys go.

Posted by DigiNut on Feb-05-2003 06:02:

Hmmm, anyone wanna start a roll call here? I know it's over 2 weeks away, but I'm thinking that the party I want to go to is the one where most of the TA's are.

Personally I like Hybrid better than Scott Bond, but Viva is better than System and it looks like not a lot of people are going to Hybrid...

another "Bond" event for me

well i just saw agent flemming on sat so looks like i'll carry on with the theme and see Scott Bond on feb 21, i saw him when he came to the guv and he ripped it to shreds with Praetorian-Released, so i cant wait to hear what uplifting trance he will bring over from the UK, his style i find involves a lot of uplifting trance and a lot more than normal vocal trance which i love so yeah definitely hitting up Bond that night hope to meet some more TA's so far ive only met drew factor and nighthawk, was nice meeting you guys, later all

cheers

Count me in for this one. Lets get a good TA crowd!

Scott Bond is amazing, and I can't wait.

I am definitely in for another great uplifting set.

Yeah!!! I'm gonna be there! I have the gatecrasher resident CD and Scott Bond plays very similar to Matt Hardwick...

Make sure Mike comes for Bond! Next time I spend a weekend up in Ottawa I'll be sure to give you and Mike a call (I usually go every 3 weeks or so).

The CD has Bond, Hardwick and and Halliwell (they each have their own CD). Man, is it a great CD. I put them all in my car 2 weeks ago, and haven't taken them out yet!

Scott Bond is going to be great, and anybody who doesn't make it will be missing out on a good show.

Ottawa? Jenna & Mike live in Richmond Hill....

Posted by nusty on Feb-06-2003 06:49:

this the same weekend as hybrid!? oh dear. choices, choices. Maybe school might have to take top prority (I can only hope since it will make the choice easier)

somehow I think hybrid is still getting my vote for that night.
This should be a great night for all of you who are making the trek to Viva.

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-07-2003 01:12:

Awww... poor Jenna! that sucks. We'll take care of you while he's away.

Bond Pre-Party

I was thinking about having a get together at my house before Scott Bond for a few drinks and a get to know you type warm-up. I live in North York, about 12 min drive from Viva and could probably have as many as 20 people or so.

I would be pleased to have anyone friendly over, but I would like to know ahead of time by email.

I am thinking in particular of those people who come from outside T.O. (Like Mike from Ottawa) or anyone who want to listen to a few tunes and actually learn people's real names.

What do you guys think? Lets hear some feedback and if there is enough interest, I will post my email and start making a list.

Everyone who I know is welcome, and their friends as well. My parents will be home, but they don't mind a little trance between friends.

Peace,
Rich

Rich,

This is an AWESOME idea. We can all arrange for taxi's to take us to Viva after the party, but this type of attitude is awesome.

I'm there! [single mind you]

I might have asked this before so sorry if i did.

He's co-owner of Gatecrasher with Simon Rain. He used to promote for Simon in the beginning and it later turned into a partnership.

Quite a few people I know who like Hybrid were seriously disappointed at their last showing at System. I wasn't there so I don't know but I had seen them awhile back at System and can't say I was overly impressed with them. Definitely not enough to skip out on Scott Bond! Trust me, they'll be back many times (probably to System) but how often do we get Scott Bond?

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-11-2003 06:44:

Exactly! Hybrid comes to System all the time. A DJ set by them doesn't excite me, but a live one will- which is why I'm hyped to see them perform LIVE in Miami at the Ultra Fest.

heh wells i still consider that to be uptown , where u are that is.. basically to me it goes something like this:

downtown = south of Bloor
midtown = between Bloor and Eglinton
uptown = between Eglinton and Finch
super suburban uptown = north of Finch ..

i can't really draw up boundaries for East - West tho since i don't live in the Westend so i can't really judge how it changes out there..

OK, I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but can someone please tell me the difference between a DJ set and a Live set? Are they not actually going to be physically AT the System or something?

Posted by Flec on Feb-12-2003 22:22:

Dj set = They are spinning records... anyone can do this
Live PA (performance act) = they are actually MAKING the music live EG. they have their drumkits and synthesizers with them

keep in mind most Live PA's SUCK ASS and in recent cases have been almost fake ( think transa)

A dj set is a dj spinning records and improvising that way where as a LIVE set is similar to a LIVE PA (as in the artist performing live right there with equipment/synthesizers etc)

I imagine it must be a pretty hard thing to do, since most non-DJ electronic music tends to be sequenced track-by-track and heavily edited and tweaked afterwards.

Doing that live, in realtime... man... if anybody can actually do that well, and make a good show out of it... well, I don't even know how to finish this sentence...
