i hope my stupid little rant got someone's blood boiling cause its soo IGNORANT.... but that's exactly the same shit people (rb2k1) is talking about punk music. screaming? no talent? only if you're listening to the pop-punk that's on the radio. there's still a lot of good punk bands kickin around if people bothered to look around for them. people think punk rockers have no talent cause they keep their music simple, sometimes using just 3 chords, but that's the beauty of the music, its simple, and the real power of the music is in the message. what if i said stupid shit like "electronic music has the same beat over and over, therefore, there's no talent in producing it..." that's just ignorant shit.

stop judging other genres of music in the exact same way others judge trance....

Have you ever heard an original message spawn from punk in recent years, or even an original sounding song?

I can't speak for him, but I know I have. Even if I couldn't, its not like trance has been conveying a new message in a long time.

It's funny you bring that up (original punk) cause i haven't heard any new trance or really original trance lately..... it's all been that 4/4 beat crap and synths.... oooohhh sounds like the same beats over and over LOL....

it's funny to go through threads and see how narrow minded and stupid people are..... are you guys proof reading what you post cause you sound like idiots, LOL. Do any of you have any good or rational points? did any of you ever stop to think that there may be diffrent types of punk, you know, like diffrent types of trance? Maybe some one is screaming cause it's HARDCORE/PUNK! or maybe it could be a punk/emo/ska crossover...... who knows? and who gives a shit but you?

NEW THREAD: WHO IS THE IDIOT, THE DUMB PUNK BAND OR THE IDIOT WHO CRIES ABOUT THEM?

why waste your time with it if it sucks so much?

Listen to Anarchy in the Uk.
sex pistols man.
Punk used to be about fucking shit up and causing disorder*.. its supposed to be the music that your parents DON'T want you to listen to. Not about stupid emo cocksmokers whining about breakups and how they cant get laid. Today's punk is all about making fucking money. Its white surburbanite garbage music.
So fuck 99% of today's punk. I know there are some bands who still cling on to the old school of ideals, and kudos to them.

--A rant against MTV's mindless samey music video shit
MTV has fucking wrecked a whole generation man. honestly, if I ever see carson fucking daly, I'm gonna put a bullet in his abdomen, because abdominal wounds leak feces into your abdominal cavity and cause mad infection, and the ****** deserves to die from that sort of thing. Now not that eminem is a talentless hack (because the guy DOES have talent, and has proven he can act pretty well too), but enough is enough, when I see 9-13 year old eminem zombies who can lip sync and re-enact every video, and 12 year old sluts* grinding to "dirrty", I can't help but blame mtv.

Americans, do yourselves a favor. Shoot the next MTV worker you see.

*1: I've never been a punk.
*2: I work at a fucking swimming pool, which has basically degenerated into a grade school meatmarket. lol.

hardtrance81:

It is obvious that when i talk about "punk" i am speaking about the used and such "pop punk" bands. Go read the posts again if you missed that.

This is the chill out section of the forum.. so i can post whatever i feel like posting.

I didnt ask you to read this so if you have a problem with what i or anyone else said, then why waste your time like you told us we were wasting our time talking about something we dont like.. looks like you just did hte same.

NEW THREAD: Hardtrance81 is the IDIOT

Maybe if you had followed your own advice and proof read your own post.. you would have noticed your contradictory statements.

Oh yeah, Entheogen i couldnt agree more

PUNK = SHIT

the mentality of the punk movement started in england in th '70 was good but now it's only for making money ...

*cough*OAKIE*cough*

Wow.... I never thought I'd see so many close minded people in an electronic music forum. You're all just jumping to conclusions about punk music nowadays. Some of you were stating about how punk's all whining about how they lost their g/f's and are losers and some bullshit. I don't even consider that to be real punk. I can't consider a band to be punk if they don't stand for something and relate that through their music. No real punk bands would be found on mainstream outlets such as mtv and the radio. They don't stand for that shit. I believe many of them are against that type of commercialism.

Posted by DrUg_Tit0 on Jan-27-2003 20:43:

Commercial punk bands are basically going against the philosophy of punk. I agree that most don't have huge talent, but the point of that music is not to make great masterpieces, but it's more like music which can be made by the working class kids who don't have the oportunity to go to great music schools, or don't want to become famous mtv stars, but are interested in playing music as a way to express themselves, and spread their ideas through community.

I think punk rock is great. Punk, hip-hop, and electronica are both looked down upon in society as, to paraphrase someone earlier "drunk people jumping up and down". Bands like The Used, Good Charlotte, and New Found Glory give punk rock a bad name. Just as rappers like Nelly and Ja Rule give hip-hop a bad name. Just like DJ Sammy and MOS "trance" compilations give trance a bad name. Also in response to that "drunk" comment, there is such a thing as straight edge punk/hardcore, with bands like Chain of Strength and Minor Threat who have songs about respecting yourself and not following the crowd. All I'm saying, basically, is you wouldn't want people to judge trance on a couple of crappy stereotypes, so don't judge punk when you don't know everything about it. My two cents.

This isn't directed towards anyone in particular, just towards the general public.

My opinion is just that.

Do you like Rap Music? Should i flame you for not being openminded to them?

I give some groups credit.. such as "something corporate" where the vocalists are just that.. they sing.. in tune.

Re-read my post.. and realise i said people who scream dont merit talent.

If its all about the music.. and getting your message across.. then let me hear the message.. i cant decode the screams.

Flame me for my opinion, and be just as close minded as you claim i am.

Thanks to People Who could answer my post without picking fights.

~Rb2k1

i never meant my post to be a flame, and i never meant to be picking fights. sorry if i came off harsh... i'm just saying that by judging the entire genre of music based on the garbage you hear on the radio is wrong. the 5 bands that get on mtv do not represent punk music... people should look deeper into a genre before saying that its all screaming, or that its just a bunch of whiny boys crying over girls... that's not ALL punk music is. don't you guys get mad when people use sandstorm, or alice deejay to represent trance??? of course... there's more to a genre then the mainstream material.... you're all just scratching the surface of punk music, so don't form an opinion of it til you've really heard it...

sheeeit... that's exactly what i'm trying to say, =D...

i'm not really down with punk these days.... sum 41, blink, and stuff like that... but that's what people are judging punk music by... everyone go listen to some old school punk, operation ivy, bad religion, nofx, youth brigade.... check that shit out and THEN make an opinion about punk...

Might I remind you..most of the stuff you're judging your hate toward punk music is played on MTV? And MTV isnt real music. :P Punk owns, I like it as much as trance. I'm not talking about shit like Blink182 or whatever, I mean underground artists that none of you shits ever heard of. So stop juding things you know hardly anything about until you've heard real punk. Besides, people who listen to rap and punk may think the same way about electronic music. So flaming a genre you don't know anything about, and believe me you don't otherwise why would you spend time learning about it, just to say it sucks, makes you as just as closed minded as them.

Exactly! That's what I'm trying to point out. The shit you hear on radios and MTV is not real punk, but rather shit to make money off. And about the not following the crowd thing, hell yeah! I hate stupid fucks who just have to follow the trend and wear all the "Exco" shit or whatever, and the whole bling bling thing, it's stupid! I'm myself, I don't follow any trend or shop at expensive stores and wear exco, or wear what everybody wears or listen to Ja Rule or Nelly. I fit in the whole "skater or punk" group of people as most people tend to group us. So like TheTornado said, don't judge things when you don't know everything about it.

Whooooooooeyyyy time to eat pizza
