I just looked at the new posts here and I have to say that there's not much info except about the person that said "TEACH THAT BITCHES THE MEANING OF TRANCE! GET THEM INTO THE SCENE BY INTRODUCING IT TO THEM! make good track selections and you won't be dissapointed!". I have a question for you: I can make good TRACK selections but, you probably haven't read my last long post in here. READ IT, then reply. I explain in there about why that's all I can do for now due to finances, no univ. status yet, etc.

Thanks...

PS: That A/V editting thing I have in my profile is old. It should really be "Will be: Electronic music producer / DJ".

I am in the same situation..and i live in brazil for the majority trance=techno=dance=italian dance(urg urg) or putz putz ...the chicks many times dont like the music but like the guys who "sings" the music or only music played in radios..if u show a picture of kai tracid maybe my friends starts to listen to acid trance...one of my friends caught a guy just cause he look likes a singer that did a little success here...i dont have hopes...maybe i find a girl who lived in Europe...

Posted by shao on Feb-01-2003 21:14:

uhh, yeah i think kirbtastic is right in this case. Too much of something is not good (vitamin C, food [get's you fat], drinking[kills your liver], exercise [you obviously need rest after physical activity]).. i dunno, my examples might seem kind of cheesy but I mean.. from your first post, it almost sounds like you go into a depression without trance. So i guess i'm saying... take it easy...

Posted by RTP on Feb-01-2003 22:33:

I can understand your addiction. In former times I also needed my daily quota of music and got depressed and angry if I didn't have it. But my addiction (it wasn't as intensive as yours might be, but I was addicted, no doubt) wasn't good for me. I got fears that my mp3s could get lost because of a virus or a headcrash ... I wasn't the same man like before, I can really say I became a bit paranoid. And once when my computer didn't work I really got angry, aggressive and sad at the same time because I couldn't listen to the music. At this point I realized, that the music had become a value in my life which was getting too high.
So I went to Scotland for about three weeks - WITHOUT any music with me (okay, I've heard "Lethal Industry" in a bar, so it wasn't complete abstinence ) and it WORKED - without anger or sadness.
Yes, being addicted to the music might be cool, but what would you do, if your house burns down, together with all your cds, mp3s and vinyls? All music would be gone, but your life has to go on ... always...

Maybe now you think, I'm a crazy old man talking shit ... and even if you do I won't give a damn about it...

EVERY TIME I go outside, I NEED that MP3-CD player with spare batteries because I NEED to ALWAYS be hearing it. I can't go much time without it (unless I was in school taking a test or something) because I get miserable, bored, and sad. EVERY TIME I leave my PC, it's ALWAYS downloading. I queued up over 10 GB of music to download from a DC hub. I'm on an endless cycle of download, listen, burn to CD, get off HDD. I NEED a girlfriend who LOVES AND IS ADDICTED TO the music. No one else would do because I don't get along with many if they aren't the same. Why? Because they don't understand what it's like to love what all of us at TA love to the point where they CANNOT be without it. That is TRANCE. They say "How can you listen to that crap? There's often no singing.". I can't take it when I get numerous remarks like this thrown at me. So, who else is like this?

I depends on what kind of trance you listen to,
if it's progressive/quality club trance you don't have because you like me
if you like cheezy trance you have a big problem

Does MAGIK ring a bell to what I like? Oceanlab material, PvD, Tiesto (BEFORE 2001/2002), Rank 1. ONLY QUALITY Trance. I like the quality Trance to such a point that it's getting harder and harder to find.

Try to get them @ your home/room and give them some drinks to make a good atmosphere and let your sound system pumping some trance traxx. They'll surely want to learn titles etc.etc. it always works

Word!

I have the exact same "problem" myself, you shouldn't worry, I guess it's normal. However I find it pretty troublesome to have this "problem" myself. I feel that I need to listen to electronic music to be comfortable, and I'm really REALLY addicted to it. I listen to it almost 24/7 myself, I have a computer in my bedroom with a
a set of some tiny speakers that plays ambient all night long (Schpongle, Enthogenic, Gatecrasher - Digital cd3)
If I'm at a party or just together with someone that listens to beatles or any other shit-ass-rock-trash music, it really makes me unconfortable. The word would be drivingly-bored, I fucking hate it!
I have the exact same thoughts that I really need a girlfriend that has to listen to my music, well, just as long as it's electronic.
It's almost like I'm allergic to normal music. Actually, the girls I've met that listens to electronic music have been junkies (more or less, you know extasy speed and so on), which is really frustrating
I've been trying to find a method on how to spot people like us, who are really deep down in to music, addicted. If you ever see a person wearing a headset (the bigger the better) it's most probably listening to electronic music. No rock-pop-blues-soul-other person would go around listening to that music

Don't you have some friends that are in the same situation as yourself? Get together and revel in the music!
I don't have a sollution for you, since I haven't found it myself, but at least you know that you're not alone about this...

BTW, while reading through the replys a music discussion started.
Here's a beautiful melodic & mellow trance track:
Airwave - Escape From Nowhere

Posted by futurevision on Feb-02-2003 13:51:

you are VERY NORMAL

i am extactly the same like you, expect for the part where you said you dont get along too well with non-trance addicts.

i can live without trance for a few days
then about 1 week and i get aswell.

can't live without it... even if i want to quit i can't
its like a disease without a treatment

its like drugs always need it!
ADDICTED TO TRANCE

music is life

No you don't have a problem
We're all in the same boat, and we've all been blessed to have this type of music available to us; no other type of music has the effect on the human body and mind the way trance and its cousins do...

Posted by StalkerElmo on Feb-03-2003 02:18:

let me give you words of advice..

keep on rollin' on the trance highway!

Posted by tranceDJ on Feb-03-2003 03:55:

Trance is like drugs in a way but drugs are bad mmm'kay. You start out with the low quality cheesy stuff and you're satisfied for a bit. Then you stumble on to the better stuff. You experiment a bit and you find that you absolutely love it. However you find there is less of the higher quality stuff than the lower quality stuff so it's harder to find but makes the experience so much better. Some people may just stick with trance whereas others will dabble in progressive, maybe breaks. Still, you must try hard to find the high quality stuff. Once you find a good supplier tho (the hub) and talk with your fellow users of trance on whats good, you're all set

Posted by DJDigDug on Feb-03-2003 03:59:

Dude you just described my life man, i dont leave with out my cd player, i go to the fucking movies with it half the time lmao, the only time i dont have it on is when im on dates. Trance goes everywhere with me, rarely does it turn off. The only time im not listening to it is when i am listening to techno or once in a while jungle. Its good to know there are others out there like me, but damn these batteries are getting expensive lolz.

Amswer: Rechargeables. I've used some NI-MH AAs for 3 years (who knows how many discharge-charge cycles) so far. You'll save a lot of money (with me, the high-hundreds of USD) on batteries and have more for what you need: TRANCE!

Thats no solution for me ... If u have big headfones rechargeables batterys will be empty within 10 minutes..... If you dont reduce the bass...

Also, even if I could afford it, what if I go there and the relationship doesn't work out? That's my main focus of this thread now that a few people has replied. My post was a bit "too "generic and broad" because of course everyone on TA is addicted to Trance! It's just that there aren't many girls on here that fall into that same category. If there are, they're half a world away. Where can I find someone that's close to me that falls into the above categories?

Yo, Philly in da housssssssse!!!! Dude, I totally understand your concern. You see, there's a bit of a problem in your situation - your addiction, it seems, keeps you in the house. It is sort of hard to find a gf while sitting at home... Unless you're a redneck and you don't mind dating your sister. : Anyway, my suggestion - stop downloading on your "hard disk" and go out there. With PvD in Roxy and Armin in Glow in only a few weeks... Here's a novel idea - why don't you go there and meet some people. I bet you that in Roxy, out of 10,000 screaming people you may find some that like trance ... hell, you may even find someone who enjoys listening to trance without lyrics... There may even be some gurlz at that 10,000 sausages party. Who knows, you may be in luck... And you know what else, some of those gurlz who may be there, may live near by... furthermore they may even like you (or at least untill "candy" wears out) :

So, I hope you found at least 2 bits of advise among those several steaming piles of sarcasm.

... But, I totally dig it - may the tranceforce be with you!
