Ive been to most of the festivals in the last 4 years and other than GCSSS2000, i cant ever say ive had a fucking amazing time. Homelands was good last year, but they mean fuck all about the music these days, its all about how much money a big corporation can make from all you gullible lot.

Last year was the first year we have had sniffer dogs. And despite me having a good day last year at homelands, it just made me realise how corporate clubbing is, with the festivals taking the piss the most. Having sniffer dogs finally crossed that line, money was more important than fun.

I know its probably not to your tastes musically, but the Tribal Gathering this year was fucking awesome. Run for clubbers, with profit not neglected, but not exploitative. The party was the most important thing. Why? Cos they all came and got fucked with us too!

Dont give the money grabbing ****s ur hard earned 50, when its no where near worth that price. Take clubbing back underground and then it will get better.

I ripped it from the passion board who ripped it from the crasher board who got it from someone who made it up.

Sorry dude but youre talking absolute crap. So lets totally fuck off any form of security, let any old joker in with knifes in their trousers and tnt in their pants, and then if u dont get attacked or something happened due to the fact anyone can walk in, the police will raid it and shut it down, u rule.

I never said Bedrock was underground, anyone whoes ever been can testify to that! Its full of tourists these days and not what it used to be(God i hate saying that, sound like an old man). Atleast Digweed can still claim to some extent that hes in it for the music (& yes the money too). Homelands promoters are solely in it for the money.

I used the example of tribal gathering, which also isnt amazingly underground, but again they are doing it for the right reasons. They put on parties for people to have fun and escape to, im not gonna pretend they dont wanna make some money as well, but the party is as important as the money.

I didnt say fuck off all security, i just said fuck off the dogs. Like it or not, the clubbing scene was made on drug culture. I rarely do drugs myself these days, but you cannot deny that clubbing culture emerged as ecstacy took off. Its so funny to see how its peaks and trends can be matched to how good pills are.

By having dogs ur detaching urself from what the scene was built on, ie totally selling out.

What i wanted to say was you'll probably have better nigths in a club for a quarter of the price, in places where promoters still care about what they are putting out, as opposed to just counting the cash.

I agree with you, but no point sitting at home doing fuck all for the sake of your morals is there

Posted by chesco on Feb-09-2003 15:55:

I think you can count mauro picotto out, cos' he's not playing any big events this year, only in clubs.

I agree that clubbing needs drugs and drugs need clubbing, but the problem is drugs are illegal and if big events like this dont put on ample anti-drug people then they wont happen. reguardless whats built on what, drugs are illegal so have to be 'stamped out'.

Thats my point though. Id rather not have the big events if it means loosing our soul to lots of money.

Uk clubbing was founded on illegal raves in the countryside, that is what these festivals are based upon essentially. Like or not getting fucked in the sunshine is a crucial part of it.

Id rather have no dance music festivals, than have them in their current state. As i say, need to take it back underground. Luckily its happening again, in all genres of dance music too, not just stuff like techno and tech-house.

That's a bit selfish init?

Does it really make any difference to you if 50,000 people go and pay 30 quid to dance in a field?? How does that make you enjoy the music less? There are still freeparty's all over the country, go find em.

Thats very true. Your right, at the end of the day i wont just go, i dont care if u lot do. But messageboards are about opinions after all.

Posted by Coup on Feb-10-2003 17:22:

sorry dude but i think ur opinion doesnt make sense, in a way its like saying i aint gona drive a car no more coz of the speed limit..

Posted by bedrocking on Feb-10-2003 18:16:

How about if the speed limit was 5mph, would u seriously drive to Sheffield from London? I wouldnt.

Basically mate if a scene you love so dearly and have been a part of for years, gets ruined by big money grabbing ****s, id rather not go to their nights.

Money grabbing promoters have ruined some parts of clubland and yes i know its always been like that to an extent, but never as bad as it is with festivals. Its clubbing aimed at the mainstream, rather than clubbers.

Hence y i dont wanna go.

dude this is retarded, clubbing is built on drugs but drugs are i l l e g a l.

Im finding this very hard to argue because the point is so blantely obvious its hard to type.

Posted by bedrocking on Feb-10-2003 22:49:

Im not gonna get on the whole drugs debate cos i cant be fucked and it takes too long. Im pleased for you that you are a nice law abiding citizen, but i personally like to make my own decisions based on my own moral judgements.

As for my argument, drugs are part of it, but not the whole. Having sniffer dogs is just an example of the huge commercialisation of clubbing. It was just for me a step too far, but its only a step in the process. It was a final sympton if u like.

For me its just the overall comercialisation, cans of grolsch 3-4, minging burgers nearly that, tacky fair ground rides, shite soundsystems that pack up(its a myth u cant have decent sound for along period of time, tribal gathering managed it for a weekend!), schedules that are wrong but sold neway, over priced tickets, thoughtless line ups. I could go on. But basically the fact they really arent that good and lets be honest most people go to them just for the fact that there is this desire to be in a field, sun shining, decent music playing, with lots of like minded people on pills.

But as i said go if u want, who am i to say. And they can be good, GCSSS2000 being the best example, but they can also be terrible, GCS2002 being the best example! Id just rather stop wasting my money.

were the old rave scene burgers better quality then??

You're right about this desire to be in a field, sun shining, decent music playing, with lots of like minded people on pills. What other reason is there to go to a festival/rave? This is an honest question.....

Anyway, that's why I enjoyed GCS2002. Lab 4 Killed me.
