I recently listened many times DJ Tiesto - Live @ Radio Oslo and i had to revalue first position of DJ Tiesto. Not only popularity...
IMHO.

personally i dont really find anything special about armin.. i think he is just as bad as tiesto if not worse lol... that djmag poll is so full of shit lol... its hard to believe that they still have credibility from some ppl here... its only a poll of who are the most well known popular ELECTRONICA dj atm... there are so many other djs other than the likes of tiesto and armin that are so much better technique wise eg: Dave Seaman, J00F, hybrid boys, both Nick Warren & Jody Wisternoff... also new found admirtation for Dave Swayze hehe

armin at 5th and oakenfold higher than him??
outrageous!
oakenfold has a terrible year and especially in singapore live mix
sasha does deserve to be above the top 5
tiesto should be ranked 2nd or 3rd though

I'm glad a lot of peeps here are agreeing with me that Armin should replace at least one of the 4 spots above him; if not the first!

O, by the way, does anybody happens to know where I can find(download) a program to cut audio-files?
I know I'm asking a lot, but I really want to burn some Paul Van Dyk mixes on cd

There is a FAQ/Questions/How Do I forum, you can easily find there all info you need.

I Must Agree. Who on earth is that DJ at number 10..
an 18 year old that mixes for about 100 people in a pub or summit? lol

Don't be silly of course he's not the best dj in the world.

He is however the most popular. there is a difference. He plays the tunes people wnt to hear, hence number 1 in this poll.

People like richie hawtin and dave clarke are clearly much more gifted dj's as some of the stuff they do while behind the decks is nothing short of mind blowing.

I say these two because i listen to techno, however take eddie halliwell from the trance side of it. I would say he has much more technical ability than tiesto.

IMO Sasha/Digs/PvD should all be jockeying in the top three slots. But as you've all said, it's POPULAR DJ, not BEST DJ. Also add Matt Hardwick to the list.

agreed

Bugger as to the top 5 places.

What I want to know is why John '00' Fleming is down in 36th place.

Next year we must get him up higher.

Someone always complains about a DJ, but I dont think I've ever heard someone on TA complain about J00F.

He deserves better next year.

And we need to get Jon O'Bir on there next year too.

I think that list misses Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing.

it's nice to see tijs in there as #1, it's good for trance music in general, even if I prefer armin but no doubt this list loses a lot of credibility by missing two of the biggest and most important techno dj's. and I thought they were popular too, I guess not.

Posted by Hondaswaper on Feb-08-2003 00:06:

armin will be at 1 or 2 next year

Posted by Z1D on Feb-08-2003 01:06:

Why does everyone seem to hate paul oakenfold?
Maybe this wasnt his best year, but the stuff he did in 1999 is godlike. Ive yet to hear anything by pvd to top him and tiesto is the only one with anything comparable.

That may be so but I saw Jody Wisternoff a few months ago and thought he was very average. Set didnt really go everywhere and dance floor was half empty. There was no energy or vibe to his set.

Point is that technical ability isnt everything, track selection, presence, playing to the crowd is just as important or even more important.
