house music sucks! its a bunch of noise that doesn't make sense, you can throw pots down a stair case and it would sound better

utopia, that's a very uneducated opinion. in my opinion.
myndless.. why dont we call it "radio house"
as in top 40 popularity garbage?

house can incorporate such a wide area of genres that it even covers a bit of trance.. so i woudln't say it sucsk

its not an opinion, its a fact as well as an example. As for uneducated, that's you genius..MINDLESS is spelled with an I. This website is obvious that it is set up for trance fans and the love for trance music! not house!so search the web and maybe you will find a 'houseaddict' other wise take that garbage somewhere else.

hint-> type in "noise" in your browsers search engine and you should find plenty of house music related subjects.

Anyways, continuing on with the real topic...
I think there are so many differing opinions of house in this thread because everyone has a different idea of what house is... I personally thought it was that disco-remake stuff... but I guess that's not all...

different strokes for different folks when it comes down to it! your right, when i think of house i think disco! i like the emotions certain trance tracks can make me feel! no other music hits me like trance does

house encompasses all of the above. i guess when you say just "house" most people (including myself) think of disco-y stuff like M&S Presents - Salsoul Nugget (If You Wanna)

and Hatiras - Spaced Invader.

cuz progressive house and deep house are almost as far away from "just" house as hard house is. yknow? and of course hard house has nothing to do with house.
i guess deep house is pretty close.

anyways i like almost all forms of house, listening to it but im not a house addict. definitely a tranceaddict, always will be (i pray)

i agree with infinity on this, we cant really go about sayin house sucks, coz its as (if not more) diverse than trance is. I agree some house is a load of bollocks and if i had my way i would ban the shit from bein played heheh, but that is the same with trance.. and pretty much any genre of music.

btw, whoever it was who sed they had to tell their mates it wuz techno they were listenin to... tell them its trance (or whatever it is ur listenin to) and when they get that blank look, give them a headfone EDUCATE THE PEOPLE

because some people just simply DONT care about the music enough to learn what its called even, they're just posers who want to listen to what's in or something with a beat.

its tough, i just give up in those circumstance

if they dont like it then its their loss.. simple as that i just try and open peoples mind to it.. if they reject it then they are foolz heheh

well they are pretenders if they say they just like the beat some people are just plain dumb to notice the difference in the dance music styles . and I will say it again House is shit it has little meaning to it .

The name of the genre usually describes the type of music...
like trance, ambient, progressive, hard, deep, uplifting, epic, melodic... and so on
but, I mean, house?

the stuff i mentioned, like hatiras, olav, and M&S is kinda "disco" . for sure.

but it does personify house, its just one of many different genres. to the guy who said "house" isnt a descriptive term, i agree completely - maybe that's why so many people dont know what it is.

trisco - musak (wonderland avenue mix) is an oldie but DEFINITELY a goodie, one of the best tracks ever IMO. one of the crossover tracks you can play in a trance or house set, like TDR - squelch or Rui Da Silva - Touch Me. yes?

I heard it in vancouver rave, it was really good.

HOUSE. I guess some of you don't listen to house that much if you think it's old-disco remakes. Hard (dark) and Nu-Nrg house have no resemblance to the old styles.

trying listening to Dj Number 9's livesets. you can find him at hardnrg.com. if you still hate it, well, then there's nothing i can do. your opinion has been fully served.

Personally, I don't mind a little variety besides just trance
