| Originally posted by StaticFive Open nero, make an audio layout, drop your massive mp3 onto the layout, right click it, click properties, click the index tab, click anywhere in the window (with the peaks that are building--looks black with green squigglies that appear as you wait), click new split, and edit the index to match the time of the index that you want. Click ok, repeat the process until you are finished. If your file is larger than the max length of your cd, then set the end index at 79 mins (or 73 mins) and click ok. When asked if you want to split the track, click yes. let it bake, then click burn! By the way, you don't have to wait for it to build peaks--it will just be slow while you are indexing, especially if you are using winamp or WMPlayer. Happy splitting! |

The very first thing you need to know is that computers/operating systems/burner programs are not intelligent in any way, shape, or form! This means you need to give flawless instructions to the computer, or is doesn't know what the hell to do.
The biggest flaw I see in your cue sheet is that you didn't specify a filename for the burning prog to use! This specification looks like the one below:
FILE "c:\directory\filename.wav" WAVE
Make sure you have two double-quotes and you pointed to the FULL directory of the file. This may not be necessary if the cue sheet is in the same directory as the audio file. The "WAVE" argument specifies the type of data to be written. Common data types are "WAVE", "RAW", and I think "MP3". I've heard that "MP3" doesn't work with some programs such as nero. Then, just finish the cue sheet as you have already done:
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Title"
PERFORMER "Performer"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Title"
PERFORMER "Performer"
INDEX 02 01:00:00
etc...
I'm assuming that the file you have is one large file with many tracks, but if it isn't, make it easier on yourself and use a program that's meant for making audio mixes!!

Yeah...
I don't use cue sheets anymore, just when i want to stick em with a bin file. I don't really split mp3's with cue sheets either, but I was pretty sure that's how you do it... Sorry if I was fatally wrong nin one way or another!
Alright, so how do you figure out the frame number? I'm stumped!

The frame number is just a slice of a second, from 1 to around 74. If you listen to the file and a song comes about half a second after 7 mins 3 seconds, write INDEX 01 07:03:30 as your index.
Is there a program where I can check that? I put it in Cool Edit and it didn't say anything about it...
anyway of burning with cue sheets quicker then in Nero cause I don't like having to wait 10 or so minutes in nero for it to do the splitting with the cue sheet.
Mods, how about making this thread sticky?
People often ask about cue files but this thread isn't that easy to find using search engine as cue is a three letters word.

OKI.
Retarded question:
I can't get this with que working.
Been scrolling the thread, but don't seem to find my answer.
I've got a ok que I think
TITLE "Emotional Technology"
PERFORMER "BT"
FILE "bt - emotional technology.waw" WAW (same directory as .waw file)
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Intro"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "Knowledge Of Self"
INDEX 01 00:44:73
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "Superfabulous"
INDEX 01 07:27:00
etc...
I use Nero 5 to burn, but somewhere I go wrong.
I select tha file to burn, in this case: bt - emotional technology..
But how do I load the que??
I really need to learn... PLS help!!!
Peace - Chriss
Does anyone have a program that can either split or just burn the cd w/ the cue file for a mac? Thanks a lot.
I found this thread while googling how to burn a mp3 with a cue.
So anyways, from what I read here, and kinda figured out on my own,
heres a pretty easy way.
So heres what I got: a 700MB mp3 file, a cue file that splits it at the the tracks (this one had about 45), and Nero 6.
First convert the .mp3 to a .wav.
Then open your .cue file (rename it to .txt and open it)
See this line: FILE "the name of the mp3 file.mp3" MP3
Change it to: FILE "the name of the wav file.wav" WAVE
note: make sure it says WAVE and not WAV,
and make sure the .wav and .cue are in the same folder.
Now save that .txt, don't forget to rename it .cue
Now open Nero 6, at the top click 'Recorder', then 'Burn Image',
then find your .cue file and open it.
It should only take a few seconds to open it.
Now burn it!
It only took about 5 min to convert the mp3 to a wav, 10 more seconds to start up Nero and load the cue, and another 10 minutes to burn it. Im sure there might be better, l33ter ways of doing it, but this worked pretty good for me so hope this helps someone else.

TNX you'll.
It was really easy eventually.
Installed Nero 6 and worked real fine.

CDR Win & Cue Files
Hasn't anybody learned that CDR-Win ( www.goldenhawk.com )is the best when it comes to cue files to burn sets? This program not only is easy as hell to use but it converts the mp3 to wave while it burns and also is CD text compatible. So basically you are getting a store bought quality CD only better because now when you listen to the CD in your CD player, (if it's CD Text compatible) will show you the name of the tracks and and artist while it plays. No more guessing what the hell the name of the track is! Whatever you put between the TITLE " " marks will display that text. Plus the girls like it when letters scroll across my screen in my car. For editing them all you have to do is use plain old Notepad. Then save the file to .cue so windows can open it in notepad and cdr-win will reconize it as a cue or bin file. For all you guys lost in the closet for cuesheets Cue Sheet Heaven ( http://www.regeert.nl/cuesheet/) is a one stop shop. If they don't have the cuesheet it usually doesn't exist. All the cuesheets are taken from the real CD itselfs data so no fake crap there. I post like 5 cuesheets a day there. Get to know the site. It is your friend. Something else to remember is that the cuesheet has to be the same name as mp3 file itself. The header in the cuesheet also has to match or you will get a line 3 error message everytime. I posted my most recent cuesheet for an example to show you what I mean. I hope this clears up some questions and if not I'm happy to help. Cheers and happy burning.

..........and so on. One last thing. Nero sucks and Easy CD Creator is only good for making cut up top 40 CD's for your mom or making back up data CD's which half the time you have to change the file's name because it is too long for that crappy program to handle. Once you use CDR-Win for cuesheets you will never go back.

ok. so I've read through this whole thread, and i have a couple questions:
i have an mp3 player in my car, and in the queue files in this thread, i see the word AUDIO. i assume this is because it's being burned in audio format. what if i am burning a data cd of MP3s? can i just change AUDIO to DATA? or will this not work?
also, where does this cue file come from? is it created somewhere, and i am to edit the file? or do i create it in notepad, and save it with a .cue extension?
p.s. i use musicmatch to burn, but i also have nero...
