The command and conquer series have always had excellent soundtracks.
Final Fantasy 3/6 (depending on where you live) always gets me in my proverbial soft spot, expecially the overworld theme in the second world after everything is destroyed
Max Payne's theme is also an excellent piece of production work.
Wipeout!!!
Does anyone have the wipeout soundtracks? Or Tracklist so that I can nick it off the Hub.. I really loved the Wipeout music back then and I'd love to have it on mp3. Much appreciated
Final Fantasy 7 , 8 & 10
Need For Speed 3
Grand Theft Auto III & Vice City
tomb raiders
heroes of might and magic 3
also some good tracks from quake2 and need for speeds.
RPG's in my opinion own when it comes to music.
Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII were great, but I'd throw in Xenogears aswell.
Gotta say FF 7, Chrono Cross and Xenosaga
Einhander!!! love that music and soundtrack .
Warcraft series
Zelda series
Unreal Tournament original - not sure about this one, but the music always kinda got me pumped up to go on a killing spree

Silent Hill (Series)
Parasite Eve (Series)
lessee now,
Unreal Tournament Original, got the entire soundtrack in 192 kbps MP3
(PM me if ya wanna
)
Wipeout, yeah that game rocked, rocked so much that i actually bought Wipeout 2097 for PC.. and today, i actually digged that old CD (aint even got a scratch on it
), and im ripping and making a backup right now
def Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears for me...have both the japanese soundtracks taht i listen to occassionaly
American McGees Alice & Quake 1 for ambienty atmospheric goodness.
Command & Conquer 1 & Red Alert 1 for out and out awesomness!
Edit: In retrospect - some of the Doom MIDI's were pretty rocking too!
nobuo uematsu (not sure of his exact spelling) but he's the genious behind FF7, FF6 and FFX... not sure about the rest of the FF series
nfs: porsche unleashed!
Most of the old Konami games like Vampire Killer (since then renamed Castlevania), Salamander, Penguin Adventure, Gradius, ...
Very catchy tunes, excellent use of the hardware that was available then.
I can't leave it, if you are a great fan of video game music : http://www.ocremix.org/index.php
This site is dedicated to remixes (made by amateurs, some are great though) of video game music.
How absolutely class is that site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Thy!
Just listening to a remix of Battle of Olympus! Man, amazing! I'm still convinced this had a major partin my love of trance. I reckon it was this that inspired so many of the producers of today. I can still hum the music for Castlevania 2.
I'm gonna be on here for awhile, just spied the Crystalis theme music......
alley cat...!!!!
Final Fantasy 2 (FF4 Jap) had a kick ass but low quality soundtrack.
Chronotrigger as well

Generals has pretty good music, just like Red Alert had. Stand alone maybe not the best music there is, but it fits the game well.
And of course Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail!
(songs of this game can be downloaded legally @ www.allowe.com if i remember correctly
)
i think street fighter 2 had some great music
plus a lot of other games that have been mentioned, one of the wipeout games had the soundtrack available for sale! i think some street fighter games did too in japan.
