I see that most of the ppl who replied in this topic haven't actually been to the party.
I must agree, the main-stage was a fraud.

But people who thought it was a shitty party should have do what i did: Go to the hardstage, listen to Cor F, Marcel Woods, then accidently visit Cygnus X to watch whats supposed to be a legendary set (lol, i said to my friends before we went there: "haha, they will just spin their 3 records and thats all: 3x 10 min... unfortunatly, i was right )., then head back to the hardstage for Kai Tracids SUPERIOR set (one of the best Kai Tracid sets i've ever heared), then watch my hero from my youth CHARLY LOWNOISE for pounding beats.. and then head back for the Mainstage where Cosmic Gate just started their awesome set (that new style of them is kinda sweet!). But in the last half hour, after the crowd said "we want more" with all the lights on (the party should have been closed 10 mins ago :P) they put some classics to the ears ......... FIRE......WIRE.

This is probably the best Trance Energy episode i've ever been (and i've seen alot, trust me).

Cheers!

Ok i agree with the fact that some of the djs such as gielen had old numbers but there was a fucking great atmosphere i really liked,it was a good night out and kai tracid just rocks,he was climbing his turntable when there was a remix of warmdushers hardcore will never die. that guy can interact with the audiance. and then there was the overall lighting etc,it was great not very special but it gave a good atmosphere.

so its about the party it self, if you only listen to the music on a radio station then you can better listen to a every week radio show such as ASTOT (thats always good) but if you are at Trance energy in real life then its very cool to hear zombie nation or other old tunes such as fire wire and you realise that the crowd goes wild, its just pure energy. some of your guys are only looking at mixing skills or trackselection but not at the overall event.if the mixing is not that good or some tracks are old then the event can still be very entertaining.

you damn critics it just about the fun, i will make a bed that a bunch of your guys will like it if you were there.

thats my point of view

(sorry about the bad english by the way)

If you listen to trance energy sets, they have gone seriously downhill since 2000. Shitty tunes, shitty mixing, etc.

That's ok, you can still have a good time if your on drugs. But those who aren't on a couple dozen hits of MDMA or GHB will be dissapointed with the music.

i think you need to go to te and than u can jugde!

He never said anything about beatmatching lol

I haven't heard any of the sets so I don't want to judge until I have, but if it is as bad as all you say it is, let's just hope Sensation can make up for it and the second TE this year (if there will be one)... I think we all miss the good old days of TE and all those events with lineups like Tiesto, Armin, Corsten, Gielen, Rank 1, Blank & Jones and all the great trancers, but I think those days are behind us. Let's just pray for the best to come back.

Ermmm I wasn't on drugs and I had a good time, but then again who am I? I'm prolly not refined enough in my taste of fun

Posted by Pio on Feb-16-2003 18:05:

I had fun. That party was so huge and packed it was ridiculous. The music wasn't top-notch but still, i had a good time so whatever.

but i will!

Tomcraft and Joop both trainwrecked at least twice. And Joop let Expander (Flutlicht Remix) end and then took the needle off the records and switched to the other table..WTF?!?!

Tomcraft trainwrecked twice, hahaha you have a talent for understating

I have the set and can tell you he didn't make a SINGLE good transition at all. He didn't even beatmatch, he just faded the oudgoing track out and faded the incoming track in

Joops track selection was good, his mixing sucked ass but over was quite okay. Gielens set was horrible as usual. Cygnus X wasn' t even there. According to a friend who was there, they put up a DAT Tape without anybody being on the stage. Cosmic Gate was decent from what I heard from the set, although not as good as last year IMO.

lol, i thought it was a bit weird that would do live pa's of ferry corsten, armin van buuren and rank 1's remixes. but they could have at least acted like they were doing a live pa just like how Dirk MIKE acted like he was doing a live pa of Push two years ago at TE.

Where can us that failed to listen due to sleep-problems get it

Posted by tranceaddict991 on Feb-16-2003 20:17:

the last good set that came from trance energy was the mauro picotto set from 2-17-01....everyone before that was a master piece....to bad armin never got to play there....in 2000 dj jeans sets were even decent

Posted by whiskers on Feb-16-2003 20:23:

it's the crowd, i tell ya... blame the crowd... remember what johnny gielen told us in the chatroom after that other horrible TE - the crowd was loving it. drugged up wankers

You forgot the set Scott Bond Played in October 2001, absolutely brilliant

Posted by Eagle` on Feb-16-2003 20:43:

Dunno

How was Bas & Ram btw ? No one seems to talk about them

Posted by Dark Apostle on Feb-16-2003 20:48:

I don't have clue as I left around 5.00
Still had to drive all the way back to Antwerp
Was hoping to find the live set somewhere, but unless they made a recording themselves there won't be much of a live set
Why didn't they broadcast the set of the hardstage somewhere else on the net

I kinda did the same as you did Charly lownoise was AMAZING and the crowd was just going nuts on every track he played... This was a great weekend!!!

oh and to reply to eagle: Bas&Ram was good, but kai tracid and charly lownoise were better When they finished their set they left the crowd screaming for more for about 10 minutes, then showed a vinyl high up in the air... and then.... didn't play it. Still great set though.

haha! what a let down! j/k

I keep hearing SO many good things about Kai Tracid's set - he was really the only DJ I would have wanted to hear, but couldn't (they only broadcasted the main stage, and I live in Canada )

Is there any way possible that I can hear his set? Or were there absolutely no recordings done?

Thanks in advance.

That's not to count the few time he just did hard cuts to other tracks, no mixing at all. His set alone could be considered enough to make TE a disaster, that's how bad it was, IMO.

Seriously, that was the worst mixing I've heard in a long, long time. He needs to stick to making great tracks instead of trying to mix them.
