Cafe Del Mar
For An Angel

Posted by noikeee on Feb-17-2003 16:13:

For an Angel is pretty well known here, I guess it is the most famous "real" trance tune. I would have never heard some tracks you guys mentioned if it wasn't for the internet. That includes Universal Nation, Silence (Tiesto remix, the original is super mainstream here) and Cafe Del Mar (apart for the 2002 remixes).

it IS trance. if you want europop, listen to dj bobo! i still think sandstorm is a mint tune, feel sorry for it being so much overplayed and thus commercialized. but still, it's the track that everyone heard (in pair with Miles - Children). i've never heard silence on my radio (tho heard sandstorm), neither for an angel (actually, i've listened to it only once in my life and didn't like it).

you can flame me whatever you want to, but i base my opinion not on commercialization of the track, but on how it affects me... and i'm still not bored with sandstorm.

I think Alice Deejay - Better of alone . Or Darude - Sandstorm .. but then again .. are this real trance ? no .. hehehe

Posted by DJ Ezzian on Feb-17-2003 17:23:

One of theese I think:
Soutside Spinners - Luvstruck
Rank 1 - Airwave
PVD - For an angel
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar

Posted by TheFeeling on Feb-17-2003 18:23:

How about
Storm - Time to Burn
It was at least well known in the mainstream here in Iceland, don't know how it was in other countries ?

For an Angel, its been around for YEARS, and most people do know it (it actaully made it alright commercially)

Posted by M@rc on Feb-17-2003 20:37:

Hmmz, I would probably go for:

Rank 1 - Airwave

Posted by Cobalt on Feb-17-2003 20:54:

Silence or Children. I don't really have the knowledge to know which.

Posted by tranceDJ on Feb-17-2003 21:25:

Not trance but 'eiffel 65 - blue' is really well known. It was really popular when it came out.

Posted by Cosmic on Feb-17-2003 21:40:

Miss Jane - Fine day

Also very well-known I think

Posted by bilange on Feb-17-2003 22:17:

I have to agree with Children.

Popular local FM radio stations does NOT play trance. (unless if they are live from a club somewhere, but then they play R&b.) They mostly play R&b and alternative, also some local french BS. BUT!!

A few years after the release of Children (because we are so retarded electronic music-wise), that song played on our FM stations

Posted by DJDigDug on Feb-17-2003 23:36:

Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar, i think this track blows away all the cheese and famous works of all others as the single handed most famous trance track in the world, it has been around longer and i doubt there are many people who have not heard this track at least once in there life that are into electronic music at least remotely.

Posted by doter on Feb-17-2003 23:51:

I would go for:

System F - Out Of The Blue
Delerium - Silence
Rank 1 - Airwave
Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar
Age Of Love - Age Of Love

Posted by dreamdecks on Feb-18-2003 00:39:

Not sure, i think its between:

Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Veracocha - Carte Blanch
Push - Universal Nation
Robert Miles - Children
Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar

Although they may be "cheese", sandstorm and kernkraft are undoubtedly the most well known trance, europop, or whatever tracks created.
