I saw Steve Lawler live in June and someone yelled about 6 tracks into his set...you fucking suck lawler. Lawler without missing a beat yells back...fuck off wanker....double middle finger salute and goes back to mixing.
I met Luke Fair (3-4 times)....everytime I see him....he is macking some hottie on the dancefloor with a heineken in one hand.
i'm pretty much in the same boat as jspot
we're professional dj whores for hire
heh, waiting outside the club for about a half hour for steve lawler
i wasn't going to just leave after lugging around my copy of rise in all night
hmm.. i told armin in #armind i was coming to see him play at crasher the following saturday and could he pls pls pls play Airwaves Mix of Fixation. and he fucking did!
So after his set i went and told him who i was and he said ahh yes the fixation guy and smiled. and then when i asked if i could hav the fixation vinyl he stuck his tounge out at me. bastard.
hmm.. at gods Dumonde stayed on the dance floor for most of the nite after their set. Had many conversations with them. They own. Same with SHOKK and Flutlicht, who stayed all night on the floor with the fans.
told Gielen i was gonna steal his Born Slippy vinyl and he laffed.
Lots more encounters to. The worst person to talk to after a set tho is Paul van Dyk. the ****** just chips str8 off home. grrr!
i am friends with dumonde, flutlicht and shokk, so i often have good encounters with them when they play in the uk
theyre all really down to earth guys! probably the most friendly dj's ive met
Lets see, I met Joy Kitikonti at GKGG, when Tatgirl (nat) got him to come and meet some of the UKTA's before his set, i got a sweet photo with him.
In Holland, Nat, also arranged for us to meet with MAxi Jazz from Faithless. She is good friends with them! He is soo funny, and he smoked the biggest amount of cannabis in one sitting ever! Again, i got some sweet photos.
And also I met Sister Bliss (thanks to Nat again) when she finished off at Dancevalley, and chatted to her a bit, shes really cool, fit and quite short too!
and i've met DJ Dawn too
This summer, I hope to add to the list!
once i said "Hi" to armin in his IRC channel.
Mauro picotto's been at my house before. Well he was actually sitting outside in the car, my brother was driving him. My mum invited him in for tea but he never had time. He's actually been twice.
erm a few spring to mind
Last year at Godskitchen we met up with Nataz who's close with Armin. She got us booth access so I stood in there a bit, then started chatting to his bird (Erica I think??) and danced with her a bit. Then he left anf Ferry started, I just walked back in the booth and nobody stopped me, I was in and out all night
At one point I had to stand there making sure nobody else came in haha. People kept giving me shit to get Ferry to sign. Was talking to Ferry afterwards, he's actually a bit of a ****
Rank 1 @ Trance Energy: Thanks to JDDark we all got backstage and chatted to the guys for quite a while, they're sound as fuck!
Mauro Picotto @ Gatecrasher NEC Nov 2001
After his set he came down and danced with us for fucking ages. At one point we were all standing in a circle, hands locked together during a breakdown. Ah memories.
Mauro Picotto @ Global Gathering last year
RainbowBrite: Look there's Mauro
fucked Spad (looking directly at Mauro): where?
RainbowBrite: There!!
fucked Spad: OMG!! Mauro!!
Mauro: Yeah?
fucked Spad: mnxsohouhefouwr ncdsnflsi
RainbowBrite: I think he's saying hello
Mauro: OK
fucked Spad: Bye mate!

my best encounter for me was in 2002 with Misja Helsloot. i was at the show with some friends (3 or 4) and one of them emailed Misja to tell he will be there to see him playing. After a half hour from the beginning of the set, we're dancing right in the front of Misja and my friend showed him a little piece of paper where he wroted "Hi Misja! I'm Rado, remember my emails?" After Misja read the little note, he did the most unexpected thing: he let the music play, throw up the headphones and in the very first second was with us. Wow! I never expected that!! And he was hugging all of us from the group. I remained speechless, and he told us that he has to play some more and after we can talk. Well after the show (fantastic mix by Misja, I'll never forget) he went down to us and chatted for like 30 mins with all of us. Very pleasant. And the best thing: we still chat on the internet and we are friends. Unfortunately he didn't came back since then (jan 2002), but he is a very cool guy.
Other little meetings with DJs we're with Talla (he made pictures with me and my friend and also signed some of them) and Picotto (he was going to the bathroom, during the set - too much beer - and when he was back I asked him to play Like This Like That but he said he will not play that tonight, and I was disspaointed for a moment. But he played a wicked set and I forgive him), Judge Jules, and some more.
