i have to admit i was very dissapointed by the content of this thread

My one flatmate is intent on getting her boobs done (cant figure out why, she's fooking GORGE!!)

She's a b-cup, and I personally think she has got GREAT breasts.
But she's hell-bent on it, heck, she stares at boobs more than I do

I asked her why it's so important to her, and she says it'll make her feel more confidant, and that's fooked up.

I tried to explain to her that this confidance stems from the glamourised view on bigger breasts.
She says she wants to do it out of her own accord, but its more like a subliminal thing that has been drilled into young women's minds for years now with regards to being perfect and having perfect breasts.

Sorry for the rant, but I really dont like the whole breast augmentation thingy, unless its neccessary (like hideously sagging or summat)

Anyway, most of these girls that are looking for breast implants don't really need that... what they need is a brain implant, to allow them to be confident about themselves the way they are, instead of conforming to the society and peer pressure.

The problem with those girls is that they think that when they get breast implants the society will start behaving totally differently towards them. And while it is true that their larger breasts will arouse guys, it is also a fact that most guys don't like fake breasts. So the benefit is only applying to the people who don't know the girl, or just judge her by her physical appearance. Also it is not applying to people who know the girl, but on the contrary, people who know the girl will also know that her appearance is fake. Personallly, I would never be with a girl that has fake breasts.

Teenage people are vulnerable to outside influences and often don't know what's best for them. Since breast implants are related to sex, girls which at those ages want to have them don't realize if they do it, they'll be regarded as sort of bimbos and that they'll end up attracting guys who only want to have sex with them without the possibility of a serious relationship. Most people reach their full maturity between the ages of 20 and 25 (some don't even after 25), and before those ages they aren't good at observing the full consequences of their actions. But there's no way a 16 year old girl who's just about in the middle of puberty is capable of such a decision. I'm just surprised at the parents of those girls who actually support their kids into doing that.

I think its kinda sad, and it also shows on how much young girls get influenced by media and their way of showing what the ideaal woman is, to the world.
