-- One reason why DJ Tiesto is # 1
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Id also like to add that Tiesto is #1 because the fans LOVE him. the fans as a whole choose who is #1, not your own opinions, and 90% of the people I know who like trance both enjoy and respect Tiesto.
Maybe I just live in the states though so.....

well mister great critic those sets are just 2 month apart and similarities in both 2 hour sets are only 2 tracks and both r tisto productions..so theroy about 6 month sets similar is obviousley wrong..and yeah i have my head up tiesto's ass cause it is cool to defend tiesto hell i never seen him live or have any of his sets or even a single production i just do it so i can feel special man..sighs..you are entitled to your own people my man but dont keep on barking out shit without having them well thought out..tiesto may not be the best mixer in the world but he has donr a fairly decent job lately and workin hard on everything but what do i know i am just up tiesto's ass to be like the other cool kids

I would like to predict that Tiesto is going to be # 1 again this year. Mark my words.

He used to own...but in the last 9 months.....he forgot how to mix...how to pick decent records....forgot how to pick decent tunes to remix....and his ego has grown very big. Sorry..playing 30 mins of prog...does not classify you as a prog dj....neither does playing 2 breakbeat songs...classify you as a breakbeat playing dj. Sorry
Here's one of the reasons why :

Bah, Armin or Ferry haven't done anything lately that could topple Tiesto. Tiesto is the visionary, the other two are merely followers.
Roc Project-Never
Conjure One-Tears from the moon
Junkie XL-Breezer
Madonna-Die Another Day
Cor Fijneman-Venus
All of these mixes are fairly recent and all of them own. All of them are unique and original, unlike say Armin's remixes and productions last year.
Also, Tiesto doesn't play just what people wanna hear. That's what Johan Gielen and other djs i won't mention do.
About his beatmatching, surely it wasn't perfect last year as it never has been. He just got more exposure with livesets last year and people have been spoiled. There's no denying the man has skills. Come on, pop up any of the Magiks or ISOS or a set like Impulz 2002 or Innercity 99, Tiesto's transitions have always been very creative and tastefully done. His track placement works better than anyone else's and even if beatmatching is not technically perfect, that's not what djing is all about. It's also about creating contrasts, making the music flow, creating an uplifting-Tiesto has never been random, he's a very good musician and artist.
Anyhow, I saw him spin last week and it was an absolutely magikal night. No Lethal Industry, no Flight 643, no Southern Sun-none of the Tiesto cliches. He did a nice nice blend of his new tech funk melodic raw uplifting style which was just mindblowing. The two sets we have in mp3 from 2003 are fairly decent as well.
Tiesto said in his last interview that he just stopped remixing and will start producing new tracks now

The one time that I've seen him live, he put on a great show. Sure he doesn't have the technical skills that PvD does behind the decks, but he can put on a great set and create a great atmosphere. One of Tiesto's best traits is his undeniable enthusiasm for what he does. He has a great time behind the decks and you can see it. Fromt he DJ booth he dances, tosses his hands in the air, claps, everything but being in the crowd itself. You can't help but like that kind of guy!
Although I actually prefer the way PvD spins in a night versus Tiesto, but I love both guys... besides, 2 of my all-time favorite productions... have DJ Tiesto's name on 'em

LOL at this thread!
Anyways, its all opinion based as usual, and as usual ppl have started to flame each other for each others opinions
But IMO, tiesto is known for having shotty mixin skills at best, and havin seen him and PvD live in the past 2 months, I deffo give the edge to PvD!
Both had good sets mind you, but tiesto's mixin was terrible, even trainwrecking twice
Whereas PvD's was flawless, I also preffered the way PvD's set flowed, but hey thats just my opinion on the matter.
And I'm positive that Tiesto will not be voted #1 Dj this year, but who cares anyways, if for some reason Darude was voted #1 would ppl buy it? Would they stand here and staunchily defend him as the true #1 dj in the world? Fuck No! So whats the diff w/ tiesto? If you think he's number one great, if not thats cool too.
I know who i believe is the best and thats all that matters to me and my tiny little life
