i think the first one is really similar...what do you think?

yes those two are very simlar to what is on xpander

another thing that may help us here: i have the 12" and on the inner sleeves for the records, one of them shows a very large freeway junction with a car-park underneath it, and next to it is a large flat building with a car-park on top of it...

the other inner sleeve shows a residential area which does look a lot like LA... reasonably large houses and palm trees along the roads..

anyone from mexico city or LA in here?

heh i wouldnt be surprised if it IS Tokyo.. tokyo is dull like that.. inner city area at least but it looks too summery to tokyo even for summer time.. lol..

a thing to note.... if the cars are driving on the right side, it surely isnt the US cuz they drive on the left side... and US i think is one of the few places if not the only that drives on the left side of the car..

miki... shut up the US does drive on the right hand side of the road.. this means they drive on the left hand side of the car.. most of the world drives on the right hand side of the road...

its us from the UK that are the odd ones out...

Precisely. During his conquests, Napoleon homogenized certain conventions in continental Europe such as the metric system and driving on the right (of course it was with horse drawn carriages back then) all to make trade much easier. I learned that the British, in defiance of Napoleon, made it the law to drive on the left. Hence the reason most of continental Europe drives on the right while England drives on the left side of the road.

Posted by brunette on Feb-27-2003 21:14:

Definitely not Buenos Aires.. but I'm not sure about Mexico City..

Not mexico city
i say this because i dont see any VW bugs. Most of the taxis are Old VW Bugs and there are so many, you would see at least one in the picture! i dont believe it is anywhere in mexico for that reason. Everywhere i went reguardless if it was a tourist town or a little village, there were VW Bugs everywhere!

can we assume that the record sleeves are the same city??
if so, the Xpander/Belfunk sleeve shows what looks to be like an American highway w/ the Green signs and the Blue/Red highway emblem. There is also American security/police cars in the parking lot of the middle of that highway loop. On the back of it you can also see a yellow taxi cab on the highway.

I thought that the sleeves with the residential area and freeway did look very american. But the cover doesnt look american at all.

Rasta

well, i'd have to say its definetley somewhere in the USA b/c under the first A in Baja there is a building that says "wells fargo bank".....so, who knows where it is

hehe....so i went to wells fargo's website and they only have branches in 23 states.....they locations in colorado, but that picture is not from colorado....so we're down to 22 states.....my guess is that it is LA

lol.....b/c i am really bored.....here are the states where wells fargo has branches......alaska, arizona, cali, colorado, iowa, idaho, illinois, indiana, michigan, minnesota, montana, north dakota, nebraska, new mexico, nevada, ohio, oregon, south dakota, texas, utah, washington, wisconsin, wyoming........realistically, it could only be cali, arizona, texas, and possibly nevada, utah or new mexico........

Posted by dark_tenshi on Feb-28-2003 09:28:

well, I saw that too, but their website says "1,202 consumer finance stores in 47 states, Canada, Latin America and the Pacific Islands." So, we're back to where we were, could be any of those places mentioned. This is bugging me, now I really wanna know where it is! Even though I don't have that CD

Ever been to England?............................... If you ever do, try driving on the right hand side, I'll give u about 5 seconds to live if you do.

GU Board says it is Los Angeles, I emailed the design company, hopefully they can put it to rest.

Posted by onceler on Feb-28-2003 17:17:

i thought it was LA. it would be really costly to hire a helicopter to fly over seperate cities. Also, the rural housing reminded me of the homes in the movie: Friday...

You have to remember that those pics were taken at the ass-end of LA (or whatever city). so it would be tough to make out the city, and maybe make it look like the biggest city close to you. I could show you pics of chicago that look pretty similar to those pictures of LA (or whatever city it is)

Posted by mute79 on Feb-28-2003 17:26:

^^^ true, it looks a lot like LA from Training Day... but no way is it SF!

Posted by FuzzyGreen on Feb-28-2003 19:54:

Please lets not insult San Francisco. Even on the smoggiest days it isn't that bad. Foggy maybe, but not smoggy. Also, SF has hills not flatland.

Posted by igottaknow on Feb-28-2003 21:16:

I'm not adding much but its got 2b a Latin American city. The soccer poster rules out LA IMHOP.

When I look at the photo I can't help but ask myself what is "progress"? Looks like we've gotten good at covering the earth with concrete and filling the air with pollution. I hope in 50 years from now the earth won't look like this photo.

*steps down from soap box

I once read that it was LA or some place like that. It could also be Argentina .. but dont know.
